Fun With Lightwell:

Along with the healing bonus, you're no longer supposed to be able to spam-click the Lightwell, wasting charges. Apparantly it's only priests that can't spam-click their own lightwell, everyone else (you know, the people actually likely to waste charges) still can. One priest's take on the bug?

Quote: I think this bug perfectly encapsules what Blizzard thinks of the intelligence of Priests who spec Lightwell.

Quote:• Blessing of Kings, Light, Might, Salvation, Sanctuary and Wisdom increased to 10 minutes.
Finally an improvement on that end! One could ask why not 30 minutes like other classes buffs. But then, 10 are much better than 5, so :w00t:

The Greater Blessings will be 30 mins and the single target Blessing will be 10 mins. 30 mins for the cost of a reagent means the only time I will be using the single target Blessing is in a raid with mixed builds. Aggro monkeys!

Mixed builds (I'm looking at you, resto vs enh shaman!) was probably the biggest reason for the change.

Oh yes. And if the Paladins aren't awake they'll get a whisper from the resto a few seconds later asking for the original set:)

I wonder why Paladin blessings don't simply last as long as you're grouped with the originator. Give them a 1 minute duration and pulse a refresh every 29 seconds to all raid members, perhaps. Having to constantly rebuff is just annoying.

Well, paladins do need something else to do while they're autoattacking. ;)

Details about Voice Chat:

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.h...ageNo=1&sid=1#0

Quote:Q: What is the new voice chat feature in World of Warcraft?
A: The voice chat feature is the proprietary in-game voice communication system for World of Warcraft. It allows World of Warcraft players to communicate with each other using a simple-to-use interface that is seamlessly integrated with the game.

Q: Is the voice chat feature free?
A: There is no additional charge to use the voice chat feature; it is included with your monthly subscription fee.

Q: How does the voice chat feature work?
A: The voice chat feature is fully integrated within World of Warcraft. You can enable voice chat by accessing the sound options screen and turning it on. When enabled, it can be configured to transmit your voice either whenever you speak or only while you hold down a button. You can also use it to listen to other players without transmitting your own voice.

Q: Can I speak in more than one channel at a time?
A: While you can join multiple chat channels, you can only have voice chat enabled in one channel at a time. You can switch voice chat between channels by using the new chat interface found in the social window, or by clicking on the voice chat options button located near the mini-map.

Q: Why did you choose to implement voice chat?
A: Since launching World of Warcraft, we have made a number of improvements to the interface to offer players more convenience and ease of use. The voice chat system is another such feature. It is simple to use and fully integrated into World of Warcraft, making it that much easier for players to communicate with each other.

Q: Can I still use third-party voice chat programs with World of Warcraft?
A: Yes, you can still use third-party voice chat programs while the integrated voice chat is disabled. However, World of Warcraft’s voice chat feature allows you to use a simple system built into the game’s user interface rather than toggling between multiple programs. Additionally, the voice chat feature in World of Warcraft displays who is speaking at any given time directly in the game interface.

Q: Will I be able to customize voice chat through World of Warcraft, or is it accessed via the account management webpage?
A: You can access the voice chat options via the in-game options menu. The parental control options of the voice chat feature are accessible via the parental control system located on the official World of Warcraft website.

Q: As a parent or guardian, how can I control my children’s access to the voice chat feature?
A: Parents and guardians have the ability to manage voice chat via the parental control system found on the official World of Warcraft website. You can turn voice chat off entirely or allow your children to listen but not speak in voice chat. The voice chat feature defaults to “off.” If parental controls are enabled on an account, you will need to turn on voice chat via the parental control system (found in the account-management section of WorldofWarcraft.com) before it can be used in the game.

https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/login/login...l-schedule.html

Q: Can I speak in custom voice chat channels?
A: Yes, custom voice chat channels seamlessly work with existing custom chat channels such as raid, group, battlegrounds, healing, melee, etc. You can also create custom chat channels and use them to communicate with any other players who are in them.

Q: What are custom channels, how do I use them?
A: With the new chat channel interface you’ll see a section labelled “Custom.” These are the same channels you can join by typing /join and then a custom channel name. By clicking the New button you can create your own channel, as well as set a password.

Q: Does voice chat work in guild chat or when using the “/say” command to talk to characters in your immediate vicinity?
A: At this time, the integrated voice chat feature does not work in guild chat, “/say,” global defense, trade, or any public chat channel. However, we may look into offering voice chat functionality for the guild chat channel in the future.

Q: Are there raid, group, and one-on-one channels?
A: Yes, there are raid, group, and one-on-one voice chat channels. You can select what private channel to speak in via the in-game chat menu system. For example, you can move back and forth among private voice chat channels without leaving the game.

Q: Do raid leaders have moderator rights?
A: Yes, raid leaders have moderator rights and can mute players in the raid voice chat channel for all other players in that channel.

Q: Can I mask my voice?
A: Voice masking is not currently available. This is a feature we are looking into and may consider for the future.

Q: Is there a limit on how many people can talk at one time?
A: Each channel is limited to 40 voice chat-enabled players. While more than 40 players can be present in a channel, only 40 may have that channel as their active voice chat channel. In addition, only four players may speak simultaneously in a voice chat channel.

Q: Can you mute individuals by character name?
A: Yes, you can mute another player by right-clicking on his or her character name. This will prevent you from hearing anything said by that player. Any players already on your ignore list or added to it will also be muted. These two lists together will allow you to mute voice chat for 75 unique players.

Q: How can I deal with someone who’s being disruptive in voice chat?
A: While voice chat is not moderated by our in-game support team, we’ve provided tools to enable players to appropriately block or otherwise avoid voice chat from unwanted sources. At any time, you can right-click a player’s name and select the Mute option to avoid receiving voice chat from that player. If you right-click a player’s name and select the Ignore option, you will not receive voice chat or text chat from that player. To avoid having uninvited players join your private chat channel, you can set a password for the channel. We also recommend viewing the updated Parental Controls page in account management, which now includes the ability to block or alter the use of voice chat on an account. For more information on how to use the voice chat features and controls, please visit our online voice chat manual. (Parental Controls Page and Voice Chat Manual should be available soon.)

Q: Will voice chat affect my gameplay (performance) or latency?
A: Voice chat does use additional bandwidth, but with a high speed Internet connection such as DSL or cable it shouldn’t be noticeable. If you are already experiencing high latency or performance issues, enabling voice chat may increase them.

Q: My voice quality is poor, how can I improve it?
A: As voice chat does run in a separate thread from the game some newer multi-core or multi-threaded processors may help improve voice chat performance, and in some cases quality. We’ve found that USB headsets can, in most cases, be easier to configure and provide better outgoing audio quality. Other factors can include the quality of your Internet connection and the quality of the microphone being used.

Q: What happens to voice chat while I’m loading into a new zone?
A: Voice chat will continue to function while zoning, and even while Alt-Tabbed out of the game.

Q: When can I try it out?
A: You can help us test the voice chat feature right now by logging in to the Public Test Realm and trying it out. Visit the PTR section of account management (located at WorldofWarcraft.com) to download the PTR client. If you want to play on the PTR using an existing character, instructions for copying a character to the PTR are also available at the page linked to above.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to battlegrounds becoming more like the UT2004 servers I used to play on. You know... stoned teenagers with Tourette's teaching a class in creative insults
Conc / Concillian -- Vintage player of many games. Deadly leader of the All Pally Team (or was it Death leader?)
Terenas WoW player... while we waited for Diablo III.
And it came... and it went... and I played Hearthstone longer than Diablo III.

I can see it being a boon in battlegrounds if you have a guild run going with less than a full team. And it'd be handy in facilitating pugs through instances which might require a bit more coordination.

Other than that... wow. Can't wait to see what the trade or general channels turn out like, especially since they're not moderated.
See you in Town,

I believe that, at least in the first iteration, none of the huge channels like that have voice support. Frankly I can't see them ever adding voice to general or trade - talk about a party line.

IIRC the first draft of voice chat suppots party, raid, and private channels (which can be passworded). Raid leaders can moderate/mute people too. Cross-server BG is coming but not in yet. Guild voice chat is a possibility.

More significant changes on the PTR. Check out some of these huge, huge nerfs to instances. I'll bold some that stand out to me personally:

Quote:Jewelcrafting

* A new recipe for Steady Talasite is now available from the Halaa vendors, at the cost of research tokens. This superior green gem grants resilience and stamina.

Blacksmithing

* Added a new recipe for Ragesteel Shoulders that drops from an unknown creature in Shadowmoon Valley.
* Reduced the number of pieces required to get the benefits of the Ragesteel set bonus.

Engineering

* Reduced the cooldown on the engineer-made Parachute Cloak.

Quests

* Banish the Demons now rewards either a Darkrune or a Fragmented Darkrune. Five fragmented Darkrunes can be combined to create a Darkrune.
* In the Bomb Them Again quest, the cooldown of the Skyguard bombs was decreased to 5 seconds (was 10).
* In the Relic's Emanation quest, the money reward was decreased while the Ogri'la faction reward was increased.

Dungeons and Raids

Tempest Keep and Coilfang raid bosses will now all drop at least 3 items each.

Auchindoun - Heroic Sethekk Halls

* Polymorph should no longer affect the main tank.

Auchindoun-Shadow Labyrinth

* The recast time for the Shadow Word: Pain cast by Cabal Shadow Priests has been increased.

Black Temple

* Saber Lash tanks will no longer be knocked back by Sinister Beam or hit by Fatal Attraction, even if they dodge or parry the attack.
* Mother Shahraz will now pick a new beam to cast after every 3rd beam instead of after every 5th. This means she is much less likely to cast the same beam many times in a row.
* Fatal Attraction now deals 750 damage on the first tick, 1500 on the second, 2250 on the third, and 3000 on all subsequent ticks.
* Prismatic Shield is now more fun. Specifically, Mother Shahraz now takes bonus damage from one school when she is resistant to its opposite. Her resistances now change randomly every 15 seconds and are capped at 25%.

Caverns of Time- Battle of Mount Hyjal

* The health of Jaina and Thrall have been increased again from their temporarily lowered values. They should be able to absorb quite a bit more incidental damage during the event.
* Archimonde has received several adjustments and fixes to prevent some of the harder to counter combinations of his abilities. Archimonde's Soul Charge silence has been lowered in duration to 4 seconds, and the death of the Priest with Spirit of Redemption will no longer create two Soul Charges. The casting time of Archimonde's fear has been increased to 1.5 seconds, and he should now use his Fear ability on a much more consistent interval. Archimonde will also no longer cast Grip of the Legion on very far away targets.
* Archimonde will no longer cast Grip of the Legion on targets that have just been hit with Air Burst.

Caverns of Time- Black Morass

* Increased recast time on Shadow Bolt Volley on Rift Keeper, also reduced damage on Heroic.
* Reduced hit points of Infinite Executioners on Heroic.
* Decreases the maximum possible stacks of Temporus' Mortal Wound from 10 to 7.
* Increased recast time for Temporus' Hasten spell on Heroic.

Caverns of Time- Escape from Durnholde Keep

* The composition of the pulls around the barracks in Durnholde Keep is now more consistent. Players should no longer face more than two Riflemen, or more than one Warden.
* The group of guards underneath the bridge has been removed in Heroic difficulty.
* The Thrall escort event now allows 20 tries at completing the event instead of 3.

Coilfang Reservoir: Serpentshrine Cavern

* Coilfang Priestesses no longer perform Spirit of Redemption.
* Underbog Colossus' Acid Spray is now somewhat less dangerous.
* Underbog Colossus' Spore Quake now has a shorter duration.
* Greyheart Tidecallers' Virulent poison is now less deadly.
* Serpentshrine Sporebats now charge less frequently.
* Greyheart Nether-Mages now blink less frequently.
* Serpentshrine Lurkers have had their damage output reduced.

Hellfire Citadel: Shattered Halls

* The melee damage dealt by Shattered Hand Reavers, Shattered Hand Legionnaires, Shattered Hand Heathens, and Rabid Warhounds has been reduced.

That last one is amazing. They've already nerfed those guys damage once, and now they're nerfing them again. The last heroic SH run I did, our tank could handle both Rabid Warhounds and the Houndmaster of a pack. Pre 2.1, trying to tank anything more than a single Rabid Warhound spelled certain doom.

Also, 20 tries on Thrall vs 3...wow! That totally removes all the pressure of that instance, when you'd get to the very last part and you knew you only had X number of tries before you were done...

And the hard part of SSC isn't the trash, it's the bosses. I'm not following Blizzard's logic of nerfing the trash other than making clearing trash less time-consuming. Which I suppose *is* the point.

Quote:Daze: Defense skill will no longer reduce the chance players have to receive the Daze effect when attacked from behind by enemies.
A tank's life just got a LOT harder, all just to stop them from having a small advantage from getting shot down by Kaliri birds.

Could you imagine doing Razorgore at level 60 with this change?

Consider places like Shattered Halls, where you can wind up fighting 4-5 mobs (sometimes more) at once. Expect to be almost permanently dazed, and if you need to move quickly to respond to something such as repositioning to grab adds or save teh Bolteh, you're boned. :(

The greater your latency to server, the more likely it is that that mob you think is in front of you is actually behind you, gleefully dazing away.

I don't really like this change because it reduces my survivability if my tank isn't mobile.
