This is why you don't have children. So you can mortgage your house and buy one of these.

Thinking of Deebye where has he been lately?

You make a mistake with that thing, and you are either dead or a paraplegic.

Hi :)

IF I knew I had a week left to live I would buy one on my credit card. ;)

Pete, picture you & me doing Dog fights [40 years ago].:w00t:

Quote:Production versions of the Jetpack are equipped with a Ballistic Parachute system from Ballistic Recovery Systems. This enables the pilot to be saved from a catastrophic failure down to a reasonably low altitude. Ballistic parachutes can open at very low altitudes, particularly if the aircraft has some forward speed. For this reason the "flight profiles" will be calculated to have the lowest risk possible.

Yeah, I always thought one last glorious skydive at sunset without a parachute would be a good way to go out. But, this might be better.

You think like an old man Pete. I don't care if you're right.

And I would never really fly one myself either but that doesn't stop me from dreaming.

Ever consider that's why I am an old man? "There's bold pilots and there's old pilots but there ain't no old bold pilots." :w00t:

I know about dreaming. Ever since I read the Amber series, I've tried to shadow walk.

Denial goes a long way when it comes to how old you are.

Besides I bet those old pilots never got to fly a JETPACK!:w00t:

Have you ever read his bio? No one was more cautious in his boldness than Yeager. He made haste, slowly. He checked everything and then he checked it again. He did his job methodical, professionally, and as safely as it could be done. Given that he was still a young man in the fifties when jet packs were being tested by the military, and that he never got involved with that program, I suspect he wasn't attracted. His one crash was due to a design flaw -- the aircraft he was testing did not have sufficient hydraulic reserves. In spite of that, he came close to saving it anyway.

Cautious, perhaps. But brave too. I'm not sure anyone could convince us to do 1/2 of what he has done.

All very true -- but 'brave' and 'bold' are not synonyms.;)
