The same pre-BC thread on EJ that pointed out the flaws in elixir stacking also noted that chain-chugging was the most powerful MP5 source in the game. While the superlative may have been blunted, it's still a valid criticism: Chain-chugging mana potions is worth (to a non-alchemist) an astounding 75-125 MP5. Meanwhile chain-chugging Destruction potions is worth as much as the best spell damage flask and weapon oil combined.

I'm surprised that Blizzard didn't do this in the original changes to Alchemy. In fact, they probably exasperated it with the increase in potion options.

It's certainly possible to do... But is not something the overwhelming majority of guilds expect.

Most fights have not been designed around the expectations that DPS will be chain-popping those. The same cannot be said about mana potions.
