Very sad all that. RFK and JFK were profoundly affected by the deaths of those four little girls that day. It stopped being about politics and whether or not something would get votes or not, and started to be about what was morally right. The civil rights bills, the voting, it is interesting to see how they changed. RFK in particular really had his eyes opened, and saw there was something horribly wrong with America.
RFK made enemies with Hoover... He gave Hoover a severe dressing down. Belittled him. Threated to fire him after pulling rank on him. Hoover was busy trying to character assassinate King. Hoover had tapes made and spliced together to make it sound like King was having an affair. Tried to make it look like King was an infiltrator for the Red Communists. So much bad stuff going down. And RFK raked him over the coals.
