The official release date for Firefox 2.0 is tomorrow, but it's already on their FTP site.

If you upgrade, be sure to back up your bookmarks and whatnot. Note that a tonne of Themes and Extensions won't be compatible with Firefox 2.0 until the authors update them. I had no trouble installing it right over 1.5, though my favourite theme (Brushed) wasn't compatible.
Firefox 2.0 isn't a huge jump like IE7 was, but it's still a nice update. It's noticeably faster for me. It also includes a nifty built-in spell checker, which has caught several typos in this very post (I had to teach it the proper spelling of "favourite", however :)) .

Are you sure you grabbed the right localization? I would expect the spellchecker to be pre-trained for British spelling in the Canadian and British locales. Is "favorite" (sans u) an acceptable spelling in Canada, or only favourite? If favorite is not acceptable, is your installation of Firefox accepting it?

As far as I can tell, there is no English Canadian localization, just en-US or en-GB. I suppose I could go ahead and install the en-GB build, but I kind of like correcting my computer when it comes to spelling. It's not a big deal to me.
"Favorite" is not officially accepted in Canada, though it's widely-used and understood. School teachers hate it. That spelling is reserved for the US and will earn you a slap on the hand with a frozen caribou.
My installation accepted (before I corrected it) "favorite", but not "favourite". Now it accepts both.

I recently took a philosophy exam, and by chance I happened to be friends with the Grad Student who was grading for the class. As an ode to her Canadian nationality, I spelled words like "color" in the 'correct' form "colour".
When I received my test back she had circled the words and wrote in the margin "You aren't allowed to do this!".
So much for throwing a little love the Canadian way. Thankfully I didn't get any points off for it;)
Cheers,
Munk

Type proper English!
Favourite. Colour. Specialisation. Civilisation. Flavour. Parlour.
If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding... :whistling:
All alone, or in twos,
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the wall.
Some hand in hand
And some gathered together in bands.
The bleeding hearts and artists
Make their stand.
And when they've given you their all
Some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy
Banging your heart against some mad buggers wall.
"Isn't this where...."

Have at ye cretin!

So, any good new themes that are compatible. Damn Mozilla site doesn't have previews of themes.
