Barb merc question

Is there an advantage to getting a normal barbarian merc and leveling him as opposed to getting one from Hell difficulty?

Somebody linked to an Amazon basin thread about this. Something like 10k more exp required per level per difficulty per act? So about 50k more exp per level.

Also something about stats. Hp and Str/Dex might be lower, although the resists would be the same.

Simple answer: yes.

At level 98, a merc hired in normal will have the following extra stats compared to one hired in hell:
217 life
170 defense
6 strength
10 dexterity
269 AR
4 base damage
5 resist all
2 slvls of Bash and Stun

So they will be better in many ways if you hire them in normal, but you have to decide if it's really significant or not, compared to the convenience of hell hiring.
