Question on Sockets

Ok, I've been searching for a five-socket melee weapon (any one I can find) for an honor runeword for my lvl 49 Werebear Druid. I've tried the new cube recipe several times (and used up a lot of runes and P-amethysts) with any weapon I've found in an Alvl 40 or higher area. So far nothing. I've had several Poleaxes and Flamberges show up with four sockets but so far none with five.

Am I making some sort of mistake here? I've been using weapons with a max of 5 sockets, all found in areas above Alvl 40 (which is the minimum for 5 or 6-socket weapons). Have I just had rotten luck, or is there something else I should be doing?

In normal difficulty, the ilvl of an item isn't based on the level of the area. You'd have to know the mlvl of the specific monsters you're killing. I'm guessing the monsters were too low-level.

Also, the breakpoint is ilvl 41+, not ilvl 40+.

If you do have an ilvl 41+ flamberge or poleaxe and use the recipe, you'll have a 1/3 chance of getting 5 sockets.
