Burst of Speed with Whirlwind
#1
the chaos rune word adds to whirlwind.
I do know, or believe to be accurate, that external increased attack speed does not help whirlwind.
However, is burst of speed considered external increased attack speed, or would it affect whirlwind?
Thank you

Funny... now you mention it, a whirlwinder assassin might be a good pvp character. Dragon flight to connect to opponent, whirlwind to finish. LOL :D

Burst of Speed would be an external IAS effect as far as Whirlwind is concerned. The Whirlwind skill uses only the WSM and the IAS that is on the weapon that is currently being used to set the attack at time to dermine what the delay will be for the next attack; all other IAS on the character is ignored reguardless of type or source.

As reguards the Chaos rune word for claws and assassins using a claw during a Whirlwind attack, the delay breakpoints would be

Code:
assassin ht1 (claw attack)
frame
delay   WIAS-WSM
12      -33 and lower
10      -32 to -25
8       -24 to -10
6       -9  to +12
4       +13 and higher

With the Chaos runeword itself having a 35% IAS (WIAS) and the slowest claw that you can put the runeword into having a WSM=0 (Quhab, Scissors Quhab, Suwayyah, Scissors Suwayyah) the lowest you will have is WIAS-WSM=35 which hits the 4 frame delay between attacks.

If you are dual wielding then you would possibily be hitting a slower rate when the off hand claw gets used at certain points. But for PvP this may not be desireable since when dual wielding an WW, the only way to get two hits per attack cycle is if there are 2 seperate targets to hit at that frame (only one weapon per target at each of the attack points).

For more on this search for the long thread on the whirlwind attacks in this forum from several months back.
