Are normal Ethereal items considered magical?

I mean, an ethereal ancient armor with 2 sockets... If I put the runes Tal and Eth in it, will it form the rune word "Stealth" with all the abilities?

I don't play multiplayer, and I don't get to pick up runes a lot... So I'm very inexperienced concerning rune words...

Ethereal does not change the item type at all. All it does is lower requirements by 10 and increase base quality (defense for armor and damage for weapon [doesn't include smite damage]) by 50%.
