Explanation of Gloam damage bug?
#1
One of my friends stumbled across a possible explanation for the gloam damage bug. Is this well-known and I just haven't heard it? (I've known the bug existed for awhile, but I've never heard an explanation of the mechanics. I'm curious to know if our suspicions are right.)

As I understand it, the problem was solved earlier already. There are several posts, and a very long thread explaining it in the AB technical forum. The basic premise is that the "mana drain" damage that gloams use for their melee attacks is being added to their ranged lightning damage.

The regular gloam damage in hell gets boosted to around 240 average damage. Leaders/champs/minions will have further increases to their damage.

Hmm . . . the case in question came up while playing a mod called "Escape from the Afterlife." There's a melee attack ability that generates flames and triggers chances to proc, CB, etc. a character has, as well as adding physical damage and the like with each flame. I'm wondering if the two are connected: in both cases, it seems like the problem is that one type of damage is carrying another, inappropriate type of damage.
