sattellite connection
#1
Anyone use a satellite for their internet connection?
is it laggy? (i currently dial up). I sometims get some interference from the trees in my front yard. is this going to reak havoc with my connection?

I've had problems with my local cabel company over- billing me and refusing to fix it, in the past ,so i'd rather not use them. Although I'd consider it if my dish is going to be too unreliable.

The best possible satellite you can buy would give your 400 ms latency in the most ideal of circumstances. In reality, the latency tends to double that. Satellite has a very large bandwith that makes it excellent for downloading graphics and files. However it has a poor latency, meaning there is a delay before those downloads get started. This is often fatal in most games where bandwith is not nearly as essential as latency. Dial-up is generally better than dish for most games.
