My computer doesn't seem to like google.com (216.239.53.104 works, and images.google.com works). Apparently, gmail.google.com doesn't work. Fortunately, I'm getting a new computer, so it should be done in time. So I'll just have to wait a few days to register my account. :(

I will also accept a haiku featuring a pirate.

Wow, there's lots of awful pirate poetry on the web, mostly based on the recent movie. Here's a poem that I did like, though (from the web, I didn't write it):

Yo ho ho! I’m a pirate, can’t you tell.
Drinking rum all day, I think my life is swell.
Whenever I come near
People run, and scream in fear
It’s not the sight that’ll get you, it’s the smell.

I recommend the life, but it’s hard to get a date
When the hobbies you prefer are pillage, loot, and rape.
People often wonder
What we do with all that plunder
I could tell you, but I’d rather obfuscate.

As any woman will agree, I’m not a pretty sight
I’m scruffy, poorly dressed, and taken by the blight
I have a wooden leg,
(it’s really more a peg)
and my eye patch makes me awkward in the night.

I’m a pirate, don't you know, I think my life is great
We’ve just sacked a town and it’s time to celebrate
No one is disputing
this town was fine for looting
Let’s all tip a flask to the captain and first mate.

I figured as much, or if it wasn't Munkay, that it would've definitely been Griselda before me.

In either case, I've already got a gmail invite lined up - a friend of mine received an account a day or two ago, so save it up for someone else and I'll grab that one from my friend.

In either case, the poem was still fun to write :-)

Out of curiosity - for my friend, once you have the gmail, how do you give away your invites? (This is completely useless for me, at the moment, but I think she'd like to know).

When you are assigned invites to hand out (sorry, I don't know the criteria for being handed out invitations), your main gmail screen gets another text link.



The Invite a friend to join Gmail! isn't there unless you are allotted invitations. Clicking that link brings you to this screen, which is pretty self-explanatory.
