My computer doesn't seem to like google.com (216.239.53.104 works, and images.google.com works). Apparently, gmail.google.com doesn't work. Fortunately, I'm getting a new computer, so it should be done in time. So I'll just have to wait a few days to register my account. :(

It sounds like something has hijacked your local Hosts file.

It works! I looked at it, and virtually every seach engine I know of had my IP set for it... Curses! But now it's fixed. Thanks, DeeBye.

I have just one gmail invitation to give away this time.
I will give it to the person who posts the first poem. This poem must feature a pirate and be at least 4 lines long. Also, it must rhyme.
I will also accept a haiku featuring a pirate.

With their scurvy shout,
Across seven seas 'Aye aye!'
Fear Cap'n Dee-Bye!
-
Ocean waves ripple,
serene moments pass at sea,
pirates love rainbows
-
Valentines Day Card,
From Davey Jones' Locker,
'Yar have my heart lass'
-
A big swill of Grog,
And sweet plundering abound,
pirate's life for me
-
"Pillage the village?"
"Aye, but bring me Pan alive!"
"Aye aye cap'n hook"
-
There once was a pirate
that could not find a cap
so he drown his sorrows
in grog found on tap
:D What can I say! This is just too fun!
I already have a Gmail account, I'm just in it for the fun.

Wow, there's lots of awful pirate poetry on the web, mostly based on the recent movie. Here's a poem that I did like, though (from the web, I didn't write it):
Quote:Yo ho ho! Iâm a pirate, canât you tell.
Drinking rum all day, I think my life is swell.
Whenever I come near
People run, and scream in fear
Itâs not the sight thatâll get you, itâs the smell.
I recommend the life, but itâs hard to get a date
When the hobbies you prefer are pillage, loot, and rape.
People often wonder
What we do with all that plunder
I could tell you, but Iâd rather obfuscate.
As any woman will agree, Iâm not a pretty sight
Iâm scruffy, poorly dressed, and taken by the blight
I have a wooden leg,
(itâs really more a peg)
and my eye patch makes me awkward in the night.
Iâm a pirate, don't you know, I think my life is great
Weâve just sacked a town and itâs time to celebrate
No one is disputing
this town was fine for looting
Letâs all tip a flask to the captain and first mate.
Why can't we all just get along

There was a pirate
Who was blue from a lost love
Drink her away, mate!
There was a first mate,
Who was green with some envy.
His capt'n took the bait!
Now the Capt'n is gone,
With a great big bullet hole
His life, anti-dawn...
There was a deck boy,
Who was red with two rashes.
What a super great joy!
Before way too long,
The rash had spread to all there
And the crew sang song.
There was a big ship,
That sank because its crew flew
Because they were hip.
They sang for a song,
And became too cool for you.
Now, isn't that just wrong?
Now this poem is done,
Hope it isn't too weird, DeeBye
This is way too fun!
Alright, there ya go, now where's my invite? :P ;)
And it all makes sense, somewhere in this head of mine...

Munkay was most assuredly the winner, but he already has a gmail account. I sent the invitation to someone else, and I don't have any more to give out.
Send me an e-mail to deebye@gmail.com and when I get a new batch of invites to give away you'll be at the top of the list.

I figured as much, or if it wasn't Munkay, that it would've definitely been Griselda before me.
In either case, I've already got a gmail invite lined up - a friend of mine received an account a day or two ago, so save it up for someone else and I'll grab that one from my friend.
In either case, the poem was still fun to write :-)
Out of curiosity - for my friend, once you have the gmail, how do you give away your invites? (This is completely useless for me, at the moment, but I think she'd like to know).
Thanks,
Baylan

When you are assigned invites to hand out (sorry, I don't know the criteria for being handed out invitations), your main gmail screen gets another text link.
The Invite a friend to join Gmail! isn't there unless you are allotted invitations. Clicking that link brings you to this screen, which is pretty self-explanatory.

Thanks a ton DeeBye - I figured it would be a little more difficult than that, maybe having to do with actually finding a link or something *sighs*. Silly girls, right?
