Whirlwind, is skill that works somewhat differently than other Barbarian skills. First of all, only weapon IAS affects whirlwind speed. Secondly, I noticed that items with a chance to cast on striking never cast when whirlwind is used. So I am wondering if an item that gives deadly strike, such as Highlord's Wrath, work with whirlwind?
Also, along the same lines, how about critical strike and crushing blow?

So what other things does whirlwind react to differently?
And is it worth using a Highlord's Wrath for a whirlwind barb? Isn't the 30% deadly strike just as good as having 30% more damage? For the barb doing 4000 damage, thats about 1200 more...raising it to 5200! Why isn't this ammy more popular?
Is there a reason why chance to cast items on striking don't function?

30% deadly strike would normally be like an average of 30% more physical damage. However, you probably already have some critical strike from your mastery, and the two won't both trigger at the same time.
Let's suppose you already have 21% critical strike from your mastery. If you add the 30% deadly strike, your total chance of double damage is 44.7%. That means the 30% deadly strike really only increased your average physical damage by about 20%. That's still a quite nice boost, of course.
No chance to cast effects of any kind will trigger while you're in a WW animation. That means on CTC on attack, on striking, when struck, on kill, on death, or on level-up. That's just the way WW is.
