Sure, it makes it slightly more convenient to get into the Searing Gorge for Alliance characters, but I would have preferred that it didn't scrap the chain to get the key.

That chain also amounts to a serious amount of experience for one kill and a bit of running and flying. For any level appropriate character this is well worth doing for the experience alone even if you plan to ditch the key when you get it.
