3.  If this is what it takes to pay the rent . . . hang in there and keep looking for other jobs.  As soon as one opens, depart at high speed.

4.  Change your phone number and don't let him have access to it.  File harassment charges against him with the police every time he calls.  That last may be risky, in terms of keeping the position, but quite possibly may be what is required to get his attention.

I would definitely go with Occhi's advice on these items, as for poisoning his food, while not permanently damaging and very tempting, take the high road. ;) .

Another suggestion: work only your assigned hours. If you are contracted from 7am to 5pm (or whatever) only work from 7am to 5pm. The only reason I would stay late is if your patient or his home were in danger. Advising someone on how their hair looks is what girlfriends, wives, and mothers are for. (Just don't get them all in the same room together :shuriken: .) If he doesn't have any of these, tough. If he needs help combing his hair then help him. If he needs an opinion on how it looks, tough.

Personally, no amount of money is worth a job that makes you physically ill before you even arrive.

If you were in America you might be able to file a claim for hostile work environment and mental anguish, see a psychiatrist, and have your employer foot the bill for the shrink and the lost wages while you recuperate. Maybe the court can squeeze enough out of him for retraining in a new line of work.
