I wonder if a difference in your (i.e. Deebye's and GG's) email settings is making you immune? What do you have set for "Email Settings"?

In e-mail settings the only thing I have checked is "Send a confirmation email when I receive a new private message" everything thing else is unchecked. I had to dig for that. I haven't been in those settings for years. :)
