Newb Cube Question

Hey,

I have only recently noticed the following v1:10 cube combinations:

1 Ort Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Sapphire + Normal (Basic) Rare Weapon = Exceptional Rare Weapon
The item type is upgraded.

1 Ral Rune + 1 Thul Rune + 1 Perfect Amethyst + Normal (Basic) Rare Armor = Exceptional Rare Armor
The item type is upgraded.

1 Fal Rune + 1 Um Rune + 1 Perfect Sapphire + Exceptional Rare Weapon = Elite Rare Weapon
The item type is upgraded.

1 Ko Rune + 1 Pul Rune + 1 Perfect Amethyst + Exceptional Rare Armor = Elite Rare Armor
The item type is upgraded.

There are also unique combinations as you probably know... My question: Can I upgrade Set Items, Crafted Items or just plain or socketed items using any of these formulas? Sorry for such a newb question, it's just these formulas are new to me *slaps myself for not having a clue*

You can only upgrade uniques (gold text) and rares (yellow text).

You cannot upgrade set items (green text), crafted items (orange text), magic items (blue text), or superior/normal/low-quality items (white or grey text).

lol, I wouldnt know what a Normal (Basic) Rare weapon was if it smacked me in the face so I would never end up using those formulae :D

I've had a similer question bugging me lately. are rune words cosidered unique for the purposses of this formua or not (since their titles are gold)?

They're not unique.

Runewords are the same quality as the item they were put in. This also makes it very dangerous to leave them lying in town, since b.net's item-poofer likes eating white items most.
