What are the advantages and disadvantages of ladder and nonladder?
Maybe I've imagined it, but there seems to be a lot less ladder players then there are normal players (I'm on USWest). I've also ran into a lot more PKers on Ladder. I know that a few items are available on ladder that you can't get on normal.

Originally, the big advantage was that ladder was a fresh start with a fresh, legit economy. That didn't last long. However, ladder is still cleaner than non-ladder.

Also on ladder you can get more "special" ladder items

Isn't ladder "harder" in that monsters have more HPs, damage, and react a bit faster? I know the MPQs don't say that, but they have the technology to do so, and for some reason I recall it being the case that they actually used it...

The MPQs do say that ladder monsters have more defense and hitpoints. I didn't see anything about more damage or a faster reaction time, though.

As in, there are certain items that only drop in ladder, SP, TCP/IP or open games, but not in non-ladder realms games.
