what is/are the best site(s) to get filled in on the happenings since the 1.10 patch ...

and what characters (and skills they use) seem the strongest now? PvM? PvP?

The Arreat Summit is the official information site. I've found http://www.d2skills.com invaluable for planning out characters.

Hammerdins, Paladins using blessed hammer, is arguebly the most powerful character out there, and came with 1.10.

Skeleton necromancers, Trapassins, and some sorceress types are also pretty powerful if you have trouble aiming hammers.

p.s. I had some more questions...

what is the maximum number of skills that a level 99 character can have (before items that add skills)?

is there a limit to how many 7% MF, or 100 or 290 poisen charms you can have in your inventory?

what is the best kind of MF sorc?

thanx in advance if anyone can answer these...

Well you get 98 skill points for 2 to 99. You get a skill point from Den of Evil, a skill point from Radamant, and 2 from Izual. If you do this in each difficulty that adds up to 110 points if I haven't OD'd on the coffee and gotten it wrong this afternoon.

This is actually pretty simple to calculate. If you open the game you'll count that the inventory is ten across and four up (or down). Thats 40 slots. I'll leave it up to you to figure out how many you can carry based on what charm sizes you have available. ;)

One with as much Magic Find as possible without sacrificing killing speed.

single element sorcs are supposed to be really powerful against non-immunes because of synergies, fire types usually go for meteor, fireball, firebolt, and mastery, cold types do blizzard, synergies, and mastery, lightning types go lightning, charged bolt, chain lightning, and lightning mastery. Frozen orb/fireball/meteor sorcs are supposed to be the big two element sorcs, although blizzard/firewall and frozen orb/any good fire or lightning skill should be pretty powerful too.

As for barbarians, I don't know because I've never played any.

Also, because of synergies there are a lot of medium power builds to try out.

My first Ladder Sorc was a mono cold sorc, and I was able to run Meph completely untwinked very fast. The pain of course, is getting through Hell with only one tree at your disposal. I could only play in parties for most of hell.

My skills were as follow:

20 Frozen Orb
20 Ice Bolt (synergy to FO, I assume you know what synergies are)
20 Cold Mastery (my FO's effectiveness was more than doubled)

Prereqs, teleport, energy shield

question

would the best charms for a barb (with stormshield and a BOTD Colossus Blade) be 290 poisen, 3 max (and maybe a 2nd or 3rd mod), or skill charms? or a combo?

In multiplayer, Barbs are good for Battle Orders now and that's about it (maybe Battle Command as well). If you want to deal some damage, get the IK set and load up on elemental damage charms, that's pretty much the only build I know of right now that can do anything in Hell. Frenzy barbs are still viable but a bit more of a challenge than they were previously (long live Axe/Dagger!). Singers are good for a challenge. I have no idea whether a BOTD CB will actually make a sword/shield barb viable nowadays, since I doubt I'll make another sword barb and I seriously doubt I'll ever have the runes ready for it.

As for your charms question... whatever works best for you. Just remember that charms are magic only (Well, minus the unique ones) so you can only have 2 mods at the most (again, minus the uniqes).

Barbs really aren't that terrible in 1.10. I've taken a polearm WW barb through Hell without too much difficulty, and he was so much fun that I plan to go that route again very soon. WWer's are item dependent, just like all melee builds, but I think it's unfair to hit them with a "sUXXOrs" label just because they require a little skill and patience.

I now plan to "hack into your box", plant terrorist plans and child pornography, and tip off the FBI.

My friends will "bust a cap in your ass" if you insult me again.

To further that end, I will break into the SAC missile control computer and turn your home town into a glowing glass parking lot.

thank you, have a nice day.

Hmmm where do I start....

Ok first your first post...

The arreat summit
and Diabloii.Net

i have found that these 2 sites are the best for all around info

The best chars for PvM and PvP are any char.
PvM- Speciffically Hammerdins, SceleNecs, Dual Ele sorces, wind Druid, Traps Assassin, most barbs still rock with the right gear, zons all around went down in power but you can still do ok with them.
Pvp- This is all about who you want to kill. Very speciffic to gear and needs. Any char can be good.

Now for some later q's

For sorces-
Most dual elements work. You dont' want to go three because you will lose too many synergies and she will be too weak. Here is what i suggest.
Frozen Orb/ Fire Ball / meteor
20 frozen orb 20 fireball 20 meteor 1 in each mastery
this is a good build for just about the whole game. there are only a few monsters that spawn with ci fi together.

Barbs are a whole different story. If you dont' have the best gear your barb won't be very effective in hell.
WW barb is still pretty good. You need super ias though. that is the most important thing. a weapon that reaches the last break point is critical. other wise you wont' hit anything past the first 2 hits. no matter what your ar is.
If you dont' want to do the WW barb i suggest making a frenzy barb. Make sure to read faqs about frenzy though BEFORE you start to make him. To make sure you have or are intending to use the right gear and skills.
Barbs in my mind are the hardest char to handle hell. All because they are so equipment based. Well any melee char is i guess.

If you need any info on what char to make you should just pick one that you would like to make and then try it. If you dont' think you can figure it out then do some research on the build to see what you can improve on. If you dont' have the time to spare messing up a char and then finding out in hell that it sucks, then read up on the build before you start.

hope that answers your q's
