I can't connect to b.net

I just got diablo today but I can't connect to battle.net Does anyone know what the problem is?
Maybe I need to download a new version as I have V1.00 If I need to download a new version, where can Im do that?

Yes, a patch is in order. IIRC, v1.00 is hardcoded to connect to exodus.battle.net, which amazingly (since Exodus stopped hosting BNCSs years ago), exists and points at USEast. You'd need to be patched to play on battle.net anyway, though. The patches are mirrored all over the place, and are available on Blizzard's ftp: <http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/diablo/patches/pc/drtl109.exe>. If you're using NT4, you'll need v1.09b instead, due to Microsoft's failure to properly support new DirectX versions on NT. Win2k & XP do not suffer from this problem (but instead will suffer UDP thread death, resulting in you semi-randomly falling out of games / being unable to join games).
