Having been a *huge* fan of previous Blizzard games, partly due to their insanely high-quality film-sequences, I didn't hesitate to download the intro from fileplanet when I saw it posted this morning. I uploaded it for you nice people, just in case you haven't seen it before.
Now I know the game can't possibly live up to these graphics, but even *I* played with the thought of spending $12 a month to play this beauty. See the hair on the dwarf's shoulders. Truly jaw-dropping stuff. With all the incredible film-sequences shelled out every year by Blizzard, why haven't they gone the extra mile and made a feature film of CGI-graphics? It's evident they know their technical stuff, and I am also very impressed with their storytelling-abilities.
I would have loved a StarCraft/WarCraft/Diablo-feature.
Well, enjoy the trailer, if you haven't yet. It's just under 50MB, so it should be manageable for most people. *Off to see it again*
edit: Oh, and the "Madonna"-thing in the thread-title is Sopranos-talk, and has nothing to do with the singer :)

Can you make some screenshots of the best parts? I don't have DSL to download that 50MB puppy :)

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but the video on the file seems to cut out right after the opening text and I'm left with just audio. I've tried Windows Media Player and RealPlayer and got the same thing.
Can someone point out where I'm going wrong here. In the meantime I'm going to try to download it from FilePlanet but I was wondering...

Try DefilerPak. It's a collection of the most common video codecs. I've never seen a piece of video that I can't play using DefilerPak.

Download G-spot (no, it's not what you think, you filthy bastards! :P). It's a programme which tells you what codecs you're missing for any particular file you want to play. You open the avi-file in Gspot, and it tells you whether or not you have the necessary audio and/or video-codecs installed. The programme also gives you the name of any codec you might be missing, so googling it, won't be much of a hazzle.
(Or you could go for Deebye's defiler-pack.)

Thanks, that did the trick. Now I just have to wait another day or so for the WoW Beta Installer to download...

Wouldn't it just be quicker to order DSL, wait for the installation guy, and *then* download the file? :)

Hehe .. I would, but DSL (and DSL flat-rate) are still so darn expensive here in Germany that I'm not buying yet :)
By the way, it has just been reported that the Deutsche Telekom has again made huge profits this quarter, and that they have bought back their daughter company T-Online (the provider), so that significant price drops can be expected soon, I think.

My initial thought on seeing the opening (beyond "Wow!") was that it looks like it's time to buy some stock in some CGI movie makers and to set up soup kitchens for unemployed actors.

50MB Download complete. Well, what should I say? This is certainly the best cinematic I've seen from Blizzard so far (in terms of "realism"). It also shows how good Blizzard's main 3D animation tool - 3ds max - has come by now, despite its age :)

Does anyone know of a player or capture tool for Windows 2000 that can make screenshots from *.AVI files while they are playing? It seems that Media Player and the DivX Player can't do that, or am I mising something?
