WTF?
Remember when I was talking about the Patriot Act Revision a few threads ago and how folks were working on keeping GWB in office a while longer while he works on the War on Terror?

If this were to get reported in the main-line news channels it may be career suicide - whether it's true or not.
Anyone remember the draft bill that was started by a few folks to try and harm the other side of the aisle?

Actually, the bill is very real. It's part of the Patriot Act Revision. The one that that assclown turned off the microphone and walked out on. There's a link there so you can see the bill for your self. Look for it.

Yes, the bill looks real, just like the draft bill was. I just wonder about the motive behind it. Either the guy is a complete nutter or we've got a real problem with some career politicians.

GWB openly stated that he desires to stay in office until the War on Terror is finished... Which it will never be, because there will always be a public boogeyman to keep the public in line. It's Nazi Germany all over again.

I'm not sure that most Republicans want GW in the next election...the one I'm married to would far rather vote for some new blood there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a Constitutional Ammendment require 75% of the states to support it? Or am I just really tired right now?

As for 75% of states required to support an amendment, it depends on the language of the amendment. If the amendment says so, then yes, it would. If it doesn't say so...it seems ridiculous that an amendment could be passed without the consent of at least 50% of the states, and the real number is probably more like 66%. I shall have to reread the Constitution.

Ah, but the Patriot Act was passed which effectively nulled the Constitution on many issues... And gives a great deal of power to the current ruling body. I am guessing this will not be as complicated as you think.

The Patriot act was hardly used against anyone for arrests, obvious looking around, etc., so people didn't pay as much attention to it. It's still getting argued about and people know it exists. An extra term would make a lot bigger news, and would be obvious to see that Bush was pulling it, so would be way, way harder to pull off with just a law.
