We missed something in RFD last night!

I think we can agree that Good Times were had by all (or at least myself) last night in RFD, and phat lootz were liberally distributed. It was my first time there (and first time as MT for anything over Deadmines) and I really enjoyed it.

Anyway, I was checking Thottbot for info about the instance and the available loot drops, and came across this little gem. :w00t: I don't remember killing the monster it was assigned to so I read the comments for him- turns out we have to ring the gong several times, and each time a new wave of spider things appears. On the third wave, the boss who drops the armor shows up. We only did it once.

Just wanted to give y'all a heads-up. I would be open to running RFD again just for the armor; several times, actually. IIRC it's not that far in, and with a good group (or lvl 60 pally escort ;) ) we could whip through it right quick-like. The boss also dropsthis.

If I'm not in BRD tonite I can give you a hand with this on Sharanna or on Shal. You may wish to have some AoE along however. :)

WTF? I KNOW I checked that gong after we killed the spiders, and I got no icon to ring it again.

Thinking about it now, it's possible that it's not ringable again until after all of the spiders from the first wave are dead. Some of the spiders had run off down a hallway and we killed them a minute later; maybe then we needed to go back and look.

You're right though that it would take a minimal amount of time to go back there again, and we can run it quite a bit to get whatever Phat Lewts you require. That blue blacksmithing recipe we got off one of the spiders would be nice to see again, too. :)

P.S. you are a real Hit with tanking, you know. My contributions as a Warlock to that instance are minimal because I'm not damage-spec'ed and nothing there runs when hurt. I'm sort of relegated to a weak DPS Monkey role - unlike in the Scarlet Monastery where my Curses of Recklessness turn every fight into a much easier, more controlled affair than would be otherwise and I thus have more use as a Warlock.

Anyway, you can count on Boltie, your friendly neighborhood Warlock to help out with another RFD run tonight. And this time, you roll on the BoE stuff, okay?

They do all have to be dead before you can interract with the gong again. I understand that in previous patches folks could ring the gong until the boss showed up (right on the heels of the previously spawned waves). ;)

I did the same thing and didn't get the gear icon. Ah well.

Thanks for the compliments, but I think it was the Onyxia buff that was doing most of the work. ;) Props to Garrin for a great job healing too. I always feel bad rolling for stuff I can't really use. So I don't. :) I ended up with plenty of junk to sell, so I'm not worried.

Here's a map of RFD- the gong is at the 5 & 2 position. Not too far from the entrance at all, really. I'll try to be on tonight (it's iffy) and tomorrow is out, but Friday night is OK assuming other people aren't busy.

I'd say you were putting in a fair bit of DPS. And Soulstones got us out of a bad scrape here and there. Healthstones, too.

Alas, I'm booked for tonight, but Mostal stands ready to help if anything happens Thursday or beyond.
At first I thought, "Mind control satellites? No way!" But now I can't remember how we lived without them.

Balador is potentially available for help with this as well as Scarlet Monestary. Though I'm focusing on getting Uldaman ready for him right now (still need to clear some log space for that though). And last run in RFD for Balador I wasn't able to get the quest for the final boss for some reason so I still have that reason to go in there.

I'm sure the buff didn't hurt any, but you're a good tank without it. You were a good enough main tank in deadmines that my mage could AoE and not get ripped apart or eat all the healer's mana. Ruvanal tells me he wasn't able to AoE in instances until after Blackfathoms Deep (iirc). GG also compliments your tanking and he's got level 60 warriors who have been doing this for a while now in raids and five-manning the high end instances telling him he's a better main tank than they are so you're a good tank if GG's complimenting you too. Be proud. :)

Did you guys do the escort quest? I'd heard that it had been changed, but I haven't been in RFD since like December, when a well functioning well equipped group I was with got taken down. Including the beta, I've tried to do the escort quest around four times and never succeeded. That final group in December was the closest I've ever gotten. We lasted a long time, but the spawns just kept coming and when the boss spawned with his guards, I and our mage were out of mana and we finally crumbled. I remember reading in a patch note somewhere that the encounter had changed (probably a good thing). Did you guys do it?

We did it, and it sucked hardcore. We had a level 60 paladin escort and we still almost wiped. The end boss dropped a blue mage-only wand and the quest reward was a decent ring (+4 spi +7 stam I believe) but the effort really wasn't worth it except to be able to say we completed it. I don't see how a RFD-level party could complete it, frankly.

We tried it on Terenas last time we were there. We had an appropriately leveled party for the most part, with one level 37. We wiped bigtime.
