Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza
#1
Blizzard just announced their Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza, an upcoming event startin down in good ol' Booty Bay. The challenge is to be the first fisherman to collect 40 Speckled Tastyfish and return to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay.

For those who are not the first, there is still a cash prize for each fish turned in. There are also quests to catch other recently-added fish and turn them in to the Fishbot 5000. The reward is some of Nat Pagle's fishing gear... we can only speculate. There is some talk of a lucky fishing hat, though.

Fishing Gear

On the Horde side, you'll want to complete the Snapjaws, Mon! quest and receive your Extreme Angler FC-5000.

Otherwise, it might be time to grab your deepdive helmet, some underwater breathing potions, or your friendly neighborhood Druid to do some diving near Shadowprey Village in Desolace and finally pick up one of those Big Iron Fishing Poles.

Aquadynamic Fish Attractors are sold at most fishing vendors in limited supply, or you can have your pet Engineer whip some up for you.

Finally, find yourself an Enchanter who can bestow a fishing enchantment upon your gloves to maximize your chances.

This means Alliance fishers can have a total of 422 fishing, and Horde can reach 427. Best of luck!

A friendly druid would be much preferable, but if you are in a pinch you could use the services of a warlock. We tend to be unfriendly, but that's what we get for consorting with demons.

You can also use services of a friendly Shaman, or Hydrocane from Gnomeregan. Being undead helps as well!

At some point, having more fishing skill won't get you any more or better fish. For STV, I think it's around 275ish. So, whether you have 300 or 427 fishing skill isn't going to matter.
