A question:
Can you escort, say, a level 42 Druid Alchemist into Frostwhisper's laboratory for the creation of "Flasks of Supreme Power", or is there a level range restriction on Scholomance that will not allow him to enter the instance?
Also, is that Frostwhisper laboratory usable for the level 42 (has Alchemy level 300)?

There are min level requirements for all instances. The level requirements are shown on the Meeting Stones outside the instance. I'm not sure what Scholo's min level is, but it's probably higher than 42.

Pretty sure those are recommended level ranges and not hard coded minimum level requirements. I've escorted a very low level character through the deadmines even though the meeting stone says 17 to 22 (iirc).

iirc, a couple of patches back they did code minimums into the dungeons. Haven't bothered seaching through old patch notes, though.

They did, but it's definately not the ones listed on the Meeting Stones. They said "very lenient" but I don't know actual numbers.
Trade yourself in for the perfect one. No one needs to know that you feel you've been ruined!

I too thought the numbers on the meeting stones were suggested character levels. Does anyone know from which level on you can enter the Scholomance instance? If Blizzard said "very lenient", I assume that would be +/- 15 or +/-20 character levels (for a level 60 dungeon)?

Since there's nothing *on* Caer Darrow, just get someone with a key and see if the 42 can go through the portal. Question answered.

Yep, Scholomance was very easy to reach for my Tauren Druid: Thunder Bluff -> Orgrimmar -> Undercity -> Tarren Mill -> swim up to Chillwind Point and then the Caer Darrow island -> Scholomance. Not a single dangerous monster in sight. I'm currently standing there with my level 42 Tauren Druid at the meeting stone, but no one with a Scholomance key in sight either yet ;)
EDIT:
Question answered: The minimum level for Scholomance is 45, so assuming Scholomance is considered a level 60 instance, that would be +/- 15 levels.
3 levels to go for my Druid :)

Or it is +/-25% of the dungeon level :)

Well I have taken some level 50+ characters into Deadmines and Stockades at times for faming, so I doubt that there is an upper cap on the level allowed into these locations. More likely there is just a minimum level requirement placed on all dungeons and that requirement is most likely an arbitrary design decision.

The doesn't seem to be one. When I switched to enchanting for the trinket (at 60) I used Ragefire to farm the low level dusts and essences. (Go go hurricane, now I know where mages are coming from with the AoE thing.)
