[Terenas] Tier 5 Raid Instance Upgrades.

Below you will find links to the loot from each of the Tier 5 (T5) bosses. You may or may not be aware, but for the most part we can choose our own path through Serpentshrine Cavern (SSC) and Tempest Keep - The Eye (TK) and this list may assist the raid leadership staff with selecting what could be the next potential kill-target.

Please take some time to familiarize yourself with not only the upgrades available to you and your main role, but also the fights, when you have some time.

First up:

Thoughts for my Prot/Holy Pally:

SSC
Hydross - Healing Hat
Lurker - Healing Chest
Leotheras - T5 Gloves, Tanking Belt, Tanking Sword
Karathress - T5 Pants
Morogrim - Healing Ring, Healing Shoulders, Tanking Ring
Vashj - Healing Mace, Healing Gloves (smallish upgrade), T5 Hat

The Eye
Al'ar - Trinket (meh), Tanking Cloak,
Void Reaver - T5 Shoulders (meh), Tanking Bracers, Healing Trinket,

From this, it seems like the bosses that I could use the most would be Leotheras and Kael'Thas (that'll be a while). Morogrim, Void Reaver and Vashj would also be quite nice. Al'ar, , Karathress, Lurker, Hydross and Solarian would be my "least needed". :)

There are 2 belts and 2 boots of each armor type, made by the three armor professions.
The mail items are made by leatherworkers, not blacksmiths.
All belts are BoP pattern, BoE item, take 2 nether vortices.
All boots are BoE Pattern, BoP item, take 2 primal nether.

Perhaps you can see why T5 raids (TK/SSC) don't exactly excite me. Sure, content, content, but, there's not much in upgrades after the set. I'll come out of there behind everyone, and that's the issue I have with it. I'll be behind in gear and getting close to unworthy of a raid spot, unless (and I'm hoping) ZA fills some holes for me. That's why I'm very interested to see what ZA has. ZG had good elemental stuff last time, maybe ZA will this time.

For myself the MAJOR gearing ugprades are Helm and shoulders.

Helm -- T4 approx equal T5 for MS
Off-set helm -- Magtheridon drops a helm that is literally worse the the blue 'of second sight' helm we all have
Off-set helm #2 -- Void Reaver drops 'Fel-Steel' that is not really better than T4 for MS, provided I can get my 135 hit rating elsewhere, An acceptable substitute for T4 / T5, but probably has too much hit for me to justify taking over a Fury war.

Really I'd be happy with T4 helm here until we start pushing into T6 content (probably like never)

Shoulders -- T4 approx equal T5 for MS
Off-set shoulders -- Hydross drops 'Wardancer' which are the best for a long time for MS spec.


I could list 10 other upgrades out, but for the most part, these two are the major ones.

Mogo does actually want the set bonuses from the Tier 5 healing stuff (much better than the crappy ass Tier4 bonuses), but of those pieces, the chest and shoulders are most important. If she doesn't get the T5 shoulder piece out of Eye, the Coral-barbed shoulderpads would be acceptable as well. ;) If she doesn't get the T5 chestpiece, the Fire Crest Breastplate would substitute. As for her other major upgrades, it's the light-fathom scepter out of SSC, and out of Eye, The Girdle of the fallen stars, the sunshower light cloak and the worldstorm gauntlets, in that order. There are other sidegrades out of there for her, but these items are key for her healing. I haven't bothered to look at non-healing stuff for her.:)

I'm only considering gear for my current spec. There is some stuff I would take if no one wanted it in case I respec again but I'm not listing it. I'm also not listing some of the leather stuff I would take but even if it was a big upgraded I'm passing on leather till the rogues and feral druids have it. There are also 1 handed weapons that would be upgrades as well but Legacy is a solid stat stick and since there really don't seem to be any 1 handers designed as hunter stat sticks I'm not going to list any of them either since I'd only bottom feed them after the rogue/warriors/shaman had what they wanted.

Hydross: Ranger General's Chestguard , Ring of Lethality
Lurker Below: Nothing
Leotheras: Tsunami Talisman, Don't really care about T5 gloves for my current spec
Fathom-Lord: T5 Legs
Morogrim: Nothing
Lady Vashj: Serpentspine Longbow, T5 Helm, Cobra-Lash Boots (best boots in game for my spec)


The Eye
A'lar: Nothing
Void Reaver: Void Reaver Greaves (best legs in game for my spec). T5 shoulders aren't as good as the Arena shoulders but I'd take them so I could fully socket the arena shoulders for PvP and these for PvE.
Solarian: Star Strider Boots (I'd take em if I didn't have Vashj boots)
Kael: T5 chest, Thalassian Wildercloak (top cloak for my spec)



So I do have good upgrades in SSC and The Eye but nothing super huge. The recipes for the belts that can drop in SSC would be able to offer some pretty big upgrades for me though, especially the leather belt, the Belt of Deep Shadow. But I'm not doing too badly in any slot right now.

I had a good time raiding as Demo spec and if I can scrounge up 2 pieces of T5 + the warlock trinket (High Astromancer Solarian), I'll respec in a heartbeat. I'd prefer the T5 shoulders + gloves since that would keep my Spellstrike set bonus intact, which is better for raiding than the FSW. Plus the shoulders look awesome.:)

I think it would be beneficial to the raid to have some non-Affliction spec warlocks; the few times we've done Gruul with 5 warlocks (and the one Lurker attempt I was at) I found my Curse of Doom getting pushed off.

Aside from the T5 set, the following are drops I would put to use:

SSC
Belt: Cord of Screaming Terrors (Lurker Below) *just got a belt upgrade so I would feel bad taking this, but it's pretty much the best warlock belt in the game
Boots: Boots of the Shifting Nightmare (Hydross) *probably wouldn't take these until I had other gear to break my FSW set
Robe: Vestments of the Sea Witch (Lady Vashj)
Ring: Ring of Endless Coils (Lady Vashj)

Tempest Keep
Head: Cowl of the Grand Engineer (Void Reaver) *probably wouldn't take this unless I ended up with T5 legs somehow
Wand: Wand of the Forgotten Seer (High Astromancer Solarian)
Trinket: Void Star Talisman (High Astromancer Solarian)
Cloak: Royal Cloak of the Sunstriders (Kael'thas)


So all in all there isn't much for this warlock until later on in the instances. All the more reason to push forward!
