Microsoft offers to buy Yahoo for $44.6 Billion

I guess the kid gloves really are off now in the Google/MS war.

Therefore, everything is relatively uncertain.

Ever since Google started stepping on Microsoft's toes with the implementation of Google Docs, it was a matter of time before Microsoft hit back. And buying Yahoo (assuming the deal goes through) is a smart choice. Microsoft has had a number of search site iterations (MSN, Live Search, etc), and even with the years of having MSN.com as the default homepage on new machines, it didn't ever topple Yahoo or Google. And Yahoo has expanded beyond a search engine, with a number of smart purchases over the years like flickr.

I wonder what this means for the future? Email addresses @yahoo.hotmail.com?:P

Cheers,

Munk
