Diablo 3
#1
Hi to all!

I've learned from some internet sources that Blizzard have no plans for any more Diablo sequels right now. D3 is simply not on their agenda.

Let's imagine that they do make D3. Do any of you have any cool ideas for it? (Plot, classes, acts, monsters, skills,etc...). Feel free to share your ideas with me.

1) Plot:
I'm not much of a story writer myself, so I haven't realy thought of a detailed plot for D3. All I know is that it will involve three things:

-The shattering of the world stone by Tyrael, and the changes it brought to the Mortal Realm.
-The 3 Prime Evils have been banished back to Hell forever, and with the 3 Soulstones destroyed, have
no way of manifesting themselves again......So the plot will have to revolve around the two remaining
Lesser Evils, Azmodan and Belial.
-The final boss would be Tyrael himself, who has been corrupted by the shattering of the soulstone
(Kinda like Izual, but much more powerful...cool eh?)

Any suggestions?

2) Classes:
Very hard to think of any new classes. Blizzard did such a good job in D2E, that they seem to have created every possible class conceivable! I was thinking of a 'Monk' class who can fight with bare hands and Kung-Fu kicks (remember Hellfire?), but since the Assassin already has Martial Arts, I decided to scrap him altogether. Maybe they should make a non-human class, like some kind of reptilian mutant who can climb walls, spit acid, and do other things reptilian.?????

3) Items:
Here are a few suggestions.

- Two new gem types: Onyx (black) and Jacynth (orange) with the following properties:
Onyx. Helmet ( increases armor class), Weapon (+ x% against Demons), Armor (increases armor class), Shield (increases resistance to Acid- a new form of elemental attack)

Jacynth. Helmet ( increases light radius ), Weapon (increases attack speed), Armor (increases stamina),
Shield (attracts missiles, ie: increases chance of blocking missiles)

- Oriental type weapons such as Katana, Nunchucks, Shirukin, Throwing stars, etc... (Ninja class anyone?)

- Unique artifacts OTHER than weapons and armor. Here are a few examples:
Figurines of Summoning (summon magical creatures to fight alongside the character)
Ring of Etherealness (Turns character ethereal- becomes ghostly and transparent, which makes him resist physical attacks)
Manual of Fighters (read it and gain 10 pts of Str)
Manual of Agility (read it and gain 10 pts dexterity)
etc....

4) Acts:

- An oriental act (Japanese or Chinese setting), with thick bamboo forests, Pagoda-Style temples and ancient oriental tombs.
Monsters include: Undead samurai warriors, Ninjas, evil monks, etc....

- An underground act (The whole act takes place in a huge underground complex), with caverns, magma pools, and giant subterranean mushroom groves.
Monsters include: Giant molds, slimes, slugs and fungus, earth elementals, fire elementals, giants, subterranean lizards, devils, a skeletal dragon, a dwarven city perhaps??.....

- A new Sahara-like desert act, with scorching sand dunes (realistic looking orange sand, where the characters leave their footprints as they walk, and then the wind blows the prints away), with cactus trees,
an oasis or two, and the like.
Monsters include: Giant scorpions, sphynxes, giant sand worms (Like in Dune), evil desert bandits on horses or camels. The final place is a gigantic pyramid of black stone, with lightning striking at its tip. The character works his way upwards towards the very top, to fight the boss who is a blue dragon (lightning breath)

- Two 'special quest' acts:
The first one on some alien moon where the hero must recover a lost artifact. (Alien monsters)
The second on the Astral Plane.

Feel free to post your ideas.

They should give the option of choosing gender, race and class, races should have different bonuses (Raceskillpoints maybe) if these bonuses would be balanced you would have a GREAT variety of chars in the realm. Don't make it too complicated though, that's exactly the reason why I play d2 more than other rpg's those usually take to long to my taste (because of the endless talking) . :D

Heh i know exactly what would happen if they made a diablo 3
'
See the three soulstones were destroyed at the hellforge... and their dust was in a pile together(all the demons are dead no one to do the sweeping) so they start to merge together in a super mix of diablo/mephisto/baal named:Diphial mwaahhahahahahahahahahhaah

but really... I'd rather just see more acts and charachter types and balances than a whole new game... Though they could emphasive on the "role-playing" a bit more....

That's funny. I don't recall Baal's Soulstone ever being taken to the Hellforge . . . :D Cue ominous music . . .

Nah, Tyrael got careless shattering the Worldstone, and the shards embedded themselves into him, and as we all know, D/M/B's "souls" were attracted to the "strongest" stones around(the soulstones) In this case, since the soulstones are/were generally "destroyed", what was the strongest stone around? The Worldstone. And of course, if you take THAT into consideration with what I mentioned at the top of this post, you get:

Tyrael, Reviled Archangel of Terrible Destruction!

Awesome ideas, cool storyline, this could easily make a great mod. They should include some sort of dragons tho, since I kinda' miss them in this game. They could also make some sort of new demon class, linked to each of the elemental spirits or something. They should let you explore the amazon islands too, or the churches of Zakarum or somethin'. :)

Hi,

What, no x-wing fighters? No dinosaurs? How about death rays or mutant mental powers? Or just the old fashioned kitchen sink?

I have one thing to say: unification of concepts. D1 had a lot, it was a great game. D2 lost some, it was a good game. Your concept for D3 seems to have almost none -- just the wish list of a kid that wants all his favorite things in one game. I suspect that any game that tries to combine all those conflicting elements would not be worth the cost of a blank CD.

Why can't Blizzard do for D2x what they did for Warcraft II? Simply allow third-party companies, of Blizzard's choosing, to design and market add-on scenario packs for D2x?

An example of one could be a whole new level, with 6 new quests, some new monsters, and an emphasis on dropping certain items or classes of items not as commonly seen in the main game. There wouldn't even be a need to add in additional magic items...there could be a problem in supporting such items in the regular game, though I bet they have room for many more items which could be added to D2x via a patch.

I'm sure many of us would immediately buy any such scenario that hit the market, and Blizzard would only need to ensure the product meet their standards, and not have to devote scarce resources to programming it.

Unfortunately, it seems that console games are far out-selling PC games, and Blizzazd has started the move to producing console games. They might be unwilling to ever produce another major title, or upgrade, for the PC market, instead preferring to go with consoles.

While the islands indeed have yet to make an appearance, the temple city features prominantly in Act 3 . . .

I wouldn't mind something along the lines of Morrowind (yes, I'm a hapless fanatic for that game) - a game in which exploration and random side quests make up more of the game than hack & slash. Yes, hack & slash would have to be a big part of it, but I'd like to see less of it than DII.

Or how about working the character's past into the game's plot? Maybe the hero struggles with his own inner demons while fighting demons at the same time.....

Oh, and I want customizable character sprites - face, body, weight, height, etc. Make DIII more like an actual RPG than a clickfest.

Hi!

As for classes, instead of making new classes, I'd like to see all the old classes from all the old games and their official expansions, as well as possibly all the merc types. So, you could play:

Sorceress, Assassin, Druid, Necromancer, Barbarian, Druid, Paladin,
Rogue, Warrior, Sorcerer, Monk, Bard,
Iron Wolf, Desert Merc.

Ah, it will never happen. :)

Sorry about forgettin' the churches exist, it's just that they don't look much like churches in the game! They should unify concepts, and make the entire story come together tho'.

Yes, an official monk would own. Kicking everything in sight with his little bunny slippers.

But still, the more classes you include in a game, the more alike to a D&D game it gets.

When beset by doubt,
Run in little circles,
Wave your arms and shout.

What's wrong with D&D? Maybe they should make it more like Seven Seas, L5R, Shadowrun, Gamma World, that would be cool.

Hmmm... I like the suggestions of a Oriental theme, but recall a Diablo-like game already set with a Japanese theme.
Kurast definetly had a polynesian feel to it, and enjoyed playing that Act.
Lut Gohlein was OK. They could have done so much more...

My personal suggestion would be something like this:

The setting would change depending on the Class you chose. For example, if you chose the Paladin, your quests would revolve around the Zackarum Temple-type theme. If you chose the Amazon, your quests would revolve around that...

This would ensure a completely different playing experience depending on the class you chose, instead of playing the same acts with different characters.

Act 1: Roamny gypsy-style theme, caravans all over, wise old woman, etc.
Act 2: Middle Eastern. Old-school Perisan style.
Act 3: Indian. No doubt about it. From the gungy Ganges river-clone to the temple-like structure in the middle of town(near Ormus) to Alkor's stereotypical Indian accent(Damnit, I vish you people vould leave me aloone!)
Act 5: No idea. Nomadic tribes come to mind.

I just wish(among other changes, like jet-propulsion Infernos) that all classes had the option of dual-wielding(at least for one-handed swords) Especially when you consider that the artwork in the manual shows the assassin with 2 swords in scabbards around her waist(mmm, dual sword samurai clone... :P)
