experience sharing

I have two characters I am trying to level. One was in the range of within five levels of the monsters he was fighting, and the other was several levels higher. I wondered if there was an advantage to having one or the other character make the kill, since the higher level character has more of an experience penalty.

With both heroes in the bloody foothills, I had my then 94 paladin kill one and only one death mauler. I then had my 97 sorceress kill a second death mauler. In each case the paladin gained 7520 experience, and the sorceress gained 4811. No difference.

Perhaps everyone else knew this, but it was a surprise to me. Comments?

Hail LavCat,

In vanilla LoD, pre-1.07/08 dual patch, whomsoever scored the kill recieved more experience. Blizzard listened to popular demand during the production of LoD, and changed it so that all players in a party recieve the same experience, no matter who it was that scored the kill.

Of cause, one you get to the 90s, all kills are for pittance :D
May the wind pick up your heels and your sword strike true.

Well to be fair I think Blizzard felt that solo-8ing was an abuse and changed the exp system to combat that

I doubt they quite anticipated the results..........
