Johnny Cash, one of my favorites, has died.

He had been sick for quite a while, so it doesn't come as much of a shock. I'm gonna miss him though.
John Ritter, star of "Three's Company" and more recently "8 Simple Rules" died unexpectedly after being rushed to the hospital. He was 54.

I am going to miss Johnny Cash. That man had such a voice.

I know nice from right.

While "A Boy Named Sue" was what first alerted me to him, in time I preferred "I Walk The Line." The Starkville City Jail was kind of fun.
I still have both of the "HIghwaymen" CD's that he collaborated on with Kris, Willie, and Waylon. Some good cuts there, but it's not vintage Man In Black.
I Walk the Line was subject to a few parodies, this one from, I believe, Kinky Friedman.
"I keep my pants up with a piece of twine
I keep my arms wide open all the time
I've kept myself quite well in all this time
Because you're mine
Please pull the twine!
Hmmmmmmmmmmm" <== in a deep baritone
Cry 'Havoc' and let slip the Men 'O War!

I have not had a slap in the face like this one since April 1994.
Cash was The Man. He proved that good guys wear black. Heck, I grew up listening to Cash, my whole life has spanned his musical career, and I can measure personal milestones to the songs he released. I have had the honour of meeting him twice, both times a unique suprise.
What will always stand out in my mind was Johnny Cash on the Muppet Show. That was a golden moment, comedy in a pure form.
He will be missed. The world is smaller with his passing.
All alone, or in twos,
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the wall.
Some hand in hand
And some gathered together in bands.
The bleeding hearts and artists
Make their stand.
And when they've given you their all
Some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy
Banging your heart against some mad buggers wall.
"Isn't this where...."

After "A Boy Named Sue" there came another version:
(Warning: Not exactly PG13 lyrics)

As with all of Shel's work, it is irreverant but funny.

John Ritter? Crap, there goes another "everyday joe" celeb. I really thought Ritter was cool. He'll be missed. :(
Ah well, there's still Amanda Bynes... I just have this weird thing for klutzes, I guess. ;)
