As part of our focus on building and supporting our gaming community, we are establishing a Fansite Program. This program is dedicated to working closely with and supporting those members of the community who have taken the extra step of building their own destination for people who want to know more about what we're doing at Flagship Studios.

We'll be establishing a special FTP site for file downloads, holding special events and even providing exclusive content for sites registered with the program. While we know things are at an extremely early stage in the development of our game and our company, we do want to show that we understand the important and vital part fansites play in the gaming community.

To become a member of our Fansite Program, please send us an email with the URL of your site.

Bolty should totally sign up for that. He might get some free swag, and more chances to be wined and dined at pre-release parties.

But who's to say that they haven't already e-mailed Bolty? I bet he knew all about this. I also bet that when he first wrote his D1 Warrior's Guide he didn't think he'd be fought over by booth babes representatives from Blizzard, Arenanet, EA, Flagship, or whatever. ;)

Congratulations and best of luck to everyone involved :)

No comment. :)

Blizzard North is certainly on the way to destruction, with no chance to survive make its time. I mean, what recognizable names are left at Blizzard North?

Here's best wishes to Flagship studios, and here's to wishing that the first game from them isn't an MMO(genre) game :D

It looks kinda like an RPG in style of Diablo series! An "unofficial" Diablo 3 at last =) (Well, probably not the same story, but I would like to see what they can improve and change if they do go in that direction =). )

Well, it's interesting to speculate on what their new game will be like, based on the few hints from Bill Roper's gamespot interview

http://www.gamespot.com/all/news/news_6077120.html

Quote:GameSpot: Assuming that you can't speak to the full nature of the current game-in-development, can you give us some idea of scope, style, and flavor of title?

Bill Roper: Without giving away too much, I can say that we are making a game that fans of our previous games will really enjoy, but it won’t be what anyone expects. In terms of scope, we intend to create a game with a solid single player component, [and] great online multi-player support that receives more support and specific attention than anything we’ve done before. The flavor is a dark one (of course) that we think will really strike a chord with gamers around the world. The style--well, that gives a little too much away, I think…

GS: Bill, Bill…

BR: Well, I can leak a couple of things the game isn’t, though, just to get you thinking. It isn’t a classic fantasy story, it isn’t set in some place you’ve never heard of, and it isn’t a sports title. I know that this pretty much shoots down Bilbo’s Backyard Baseball, but I don’t want to get people’s hopes up too high for something we aren’t working on.

The one thing I'd bet my bottom dollar on is that it won't be a MMORPG. ;)

Thanks! I think our next game is going to be revolutionary and a whole lotta fun to boot. Progress has been swift (relatively speaking).

PS, I'm changing my nick to commemorate the change in venue.

The one game I was looking for, a family friendly game, and they are not making it.

So it goes, maybe I will look into Rock N Roll Racing III when it comes out.

Hey! :) Just when we thought you'd sneaked out the back door disguised as a stygian doll...

Please tell us it is not a Commandos-type game. Please!

Blind Date: No Sanctuary

The basis: You are being stalked by an Incubus in either one or a number of game world settings.

You enter the game as either a man or a woman, and you will in the opening credits, after character selection anc customization, encounter the Incubus on a blind date. Initially desirable, it takes that one phone call after the date to commence "The Horror!" The game will make Play Misty For Me seem like a tale of a healthy relationship.

If a man, you enter the storyline called "Psycho Bitch From Hell." That is her depicted in the art at the website. The aim is, having met that being on a blind date, to get rid of her without killing her. She of course be emotionally attached to you.

If a woman, you enter the story called "Insensitive Jerk From Hell" with similar problems.

There are no cops to call. You can't kill the Incubus, so flagship can claim that it is not a violent game and likely gets a T versus M rating from ESRB. :P

The multi player piece is what makes the game a real fave with fans, and a real nightmare to the Parents Television Council and others. It will be hosted on a free service called

flag.net (and drag.net for the alternative lifestyle char selection choices.)

In the MP setting, you all arrive in chat, or rather, a bar, and start talking to and stalking other players of the opposite sex. Or, even of the same gender, I suppose, to expand the appeal and the sales. Heck, with all the jokes about "you are so gay" on bnet, there will need to be servers for femme a femme and hombre a hombre,
and variations in between, to ensure the same audience spends their greenbacks with flagship.

Given Bill Roper and friends' apparent affection for the PK stalker, witness Diablo games, and the acceptance of griefers as good customers that the Diablo PK systems seemed to imply, I'd guess that the game will be a million seller, hated by some, loved by many, and roundly reviled as the downfall of civilization on the internet as we know it.

In short, the biggest seller of all time. :o

PS: You will be able to port in your Diablo II Lance Barb, but will have to, as a quest reward, find and ingest the magical blue pill, Viagra, in order to get your lance to work properly . . .
