Niall Ferguson wrote a remarkably detailed two volume study of their influence on Western politics and proto-international finance. Fascinating stuff, if a bit dry and a bit sycophantic in tone. Of course, since the family allowed him access to previously unreleased memoirs and books, and apparently financial details, it was no surprise he wrote in a sympathetic tone. They allowed him to scoop other historians. :whistling:
