I tend to go for certain "Guy Movie" directors rather than specific Action stars, and movies whose plots are not dumbed down to mind-numbing.
Directors whose movies I tend to like;
- Sergio Leone<>
- Akira Kurosawa<>
- John Carpenter <>
- James Cameron<>
- Paul Verhoeven<>
- Quentin Tarantino<>
- Luc Besson<>
[st]While I can enjoy mindless blow things up, run away from falling buildings, high speed chase shoot em up with mini-gun type movies. They tend to be formulaic, and id satisfying in a grunt, snort and vomit blood sort of way.
I find now I prefer movies whose outcome is not predictable from the first 20 minutes. Typically, once the characters are introduced and I get a feel for the protagonists, the plot challenge is revealed, I quickly deduce the formulaic "Hollywood" solution and quickly become bored as my predictions slowly are confirmed. *Yawn*
