This has been kicking around in my head tonight and I have one little bit to say...
The thread title poses a different question than these metrics try to describe. The reality is that different people are in different life situations (as far as I know people I have played with are over at least a 30 year age spread) and the question of "Who plays too much" can not be answered simply by hours logged or levels attained. I will personally say that I believe that I play too much and that is taking into account how WoW fits into my life. Regardless of the actual number of hours logged or levels gained this game has sucked me in and taken a larger role in my life than maybe it should. That is how I would answer the question posed as the thread topic.
When looking at these metrics you could design all kinds of metrics to measure all kinds of things. Simple hours /played (recognizing things like afks), levels gained, average level, capped players, levelling efficiency, etc. These can always be fun to look at but can also be a bit scary if you are in a position like me and realize that you've probably played too much of this game. Heck, if there was a way to add /played and time spent scanning forums I would probably pass out when seeing the numbers for my own time spent.
Just a few thoughts.
