True story:
A man once wrote to Rudyard Kipling (author of The Jungle Book; I'm sure you've heard of him), explaining that he had just read an article claiming that Kipling was paid $5 a word for his stories and offering him $5 for a one-word reply. Kipling's response:
Thanks. - Rudyard Kipling.
Shortly thereafter the man sent another letter.
Dear Mr. Kipling:
I sold the story of your one-word reply to a newspaper for $200. The enclosed check is your half.
