Well, there's more on that subject in the thread on Atma's - I should refer people there - but I don't think what you said is necessarily true. Isn't one of the first messages you see on connecting to b.net something like "verifying software version"? (pardon my poor memory) You'd know better than I whether it's implemented now, but I don't see any obstacle to doing a checksum of the .dlls and .mpqs and reporting that as part of the login sequence.
