My ISP protects its regular DSL lines with NAT (netwrok address translation?). I had to ask for a direct fixed ip connection to the internet so that I could establish my own protection and set the rules for who gets through and who doesn't. At the time, Classic Diablo was my game of choice too so that was the influence for getting rid of NAT.
