we are nearing interesting times

Romney's quit speech ticked me off.

I wouldn't get too upset about a speech where a far right guy is pandering to the right fringe. Try listening to a Hillary speech when she's talking to feminists, or her far left socialist fringe. Both sides sound insane around the edges.

Right to trial? What's that?

The nationalists would point out that Osama is not a citizen and is not guaranteed rights, however for well learned people such as us, we can see deeper to the intent of why this nation declared its independance, and set up a bill of rights. This nation was built as an experiment to see if the noble estate of individual liberty "of the people, by the people, for the people" would work, and the basis for it all was a belief that our rights are endowed upon us by our creator and which we call inalienable. This nation is suppost to stand for all human dignity, and equal justice. I think our founders are spinning in their graves at witness of the trampling of liberties that are perpetrated upon people, inside and outside of this nation by this United States. Not of the people, because only the privileged few can get into office these days. And its not by the people, because those pandering politicians cater to the whims of their special interests and ignore the majorities. And its not for the people, but for the privileged few and to those special interests by whose myopic self interest allows these unscrupulous usurpers to tenaciously hold onto their power. This is why we have no rights, why we have Trillions of dollars of debt, and why the economy is in the toilet.

So, no, I wouldn't guess most people would want Osama summarily executed if he can be taken alive to stand trial -- presumably at the Hague. But, I think the biggest trouble with that scenario is that no nation trusts the others enough to surrender sovereignty to any international body, especially when they've become corrupted, and hyper political. Many people view war itself as a crime, so how can they be objective of which warriors are legal or illegal? No nation whose been at war in the past 250 years smells very good.
