Comments from a guildie who's been in the beta for a long time:

It really is not that bad. I just hit 70 with my beta character and I am friendly or honored with all those factions without even trying. Also i have done Shattered Halls and Steam Vault and they are 1 hour to 1. 5 hours long. Faction grinding is not even close to the old game its easy and very attainable. All instances i have done are quick and max 2 hours or less. They are shorter with quick efficient groups. So far i am loving beta and the instances are well done with Naxx style strategy and flavor. I think Blizzard has a major winnner on their hands with TBC.

Attunement to Mt. Hyjal is not going to take months. Its going to be much shorter than that and very attainable. The Caverns of Time quests are extremely fun and again not that long. I think i did one of them in 1.5 hours. Rep is not a GRIND, i repeat its not a grind and it seems very easy to get revered with any faction you want. Exalted obviously will take a bit longer.
