I really dont believe anything the Blizz PR guy says at this point.
This week my server has had queues ranging from 300-600+ every night. I kind of suspect they are hopeing people just become annoyed and move to other servers. This is a terrible option if you have been playing on the same server since day one.
What really bothers me is that a month ago Blizz was telling us they would give us server transefers to redistribute populations - but no one is even talking about this now.

Belief entirely and 'believing it will show up within the next three months' are so far apart...
The no-content issue is why I'm going to let my subscription and wait a couple months to see if they actually start hitting off content patchs. The lag and server problems seem to be server specific, but a rising problem nonetheless. I don't even know if the server I'm on is gaining in population, but the lag issues are getting weirder and weirder.

What server are you on, Ghostinger? I haven't had any queue problems on Tichondrius for several weeks, although there have been some wierd lag problems on occation.

The warning signs were out there early. Server issues were present from the first week. By three or four weeks in it was apparent that Blizzard was not going to be able to resolve the issues quickly and the patterns of 'coming soon' and 'we're working on it' were starting to develop.
I switched with characers in the 30 range. Terenas has NEVER been down other than scheduled downtime and login server downtime. Who knows when transfers will happen. Don't wait, just start over.
I'm so glad I switched to Terenas, no queues and it's never on 'the list'
Eventually they will solve the problem. Hopefully this happens before Terenas becomes a relatively high pop server. In any case I bought myself time from the frustration.

Yeah this has been ticking me off too. I play on Skullcrusher, which used to have little to no queues, or bearable ones, until about a week ago when the shelves were restocked prematurely. Now the queues are 200-400, after I already invested 3 months into the freakin server.

Stormrage had been queue free for weeks, and the queues are not that bad right now even with the lower caps (they lowered the caps due to lag problems over the past week). According to wowcensus, Stormrage is the most populous "Normal" server and I really haven't had that many problems with it.
Stormrage has only ever had queues when the caps were lowered for various reasons, hopefully by the next maintainance they fix whatever's going on a raise the caps back to normal.
I think Blizzard jumped all over the idea of transfers when they saw the problems that cropped up. Then two things happened: they realized it would be a lot of work and the realms actually started working.
It really is amazing the different things people say about the game, depending on which server they picked. It's obviously not purely related to character counts, as Stormrage kills the other "Normal" servers and was within the top 10 total when I last checked wowcensus.
Last note, a quote from Blizzard: Quote:Within the past week, certain realms have been experiencing high latency at peak times due to load. In order to alleviate this problem, we are temporarily lowering the population caps slightly on the following realms:
...
Players on these realms may experience queues when logging in. We are working on a more permanent hardware-related solution for these realms; when that is in place, we will raise the caps again. While no one likes to wait, this was the option that allows the most players to continue to play in a stable environment while we resolve the problem. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Given the list of servers there (check here), it's obvious why many realms haven't even seen a queue this week.
Trust me, it's not a matter of WoW hitting shelves again. Stormrage didn't get that much more popular in less than a week. Let's just hope this "hardware solution" comes quick.

I play on Zul'jin regularly and have yet to ever see a queue despite it being one of the servers where Blizzard has lowered population limits.

Stormrage is over the top. 15 to 20 minute waits are the rule for me now. If you can only play after work ... well ... you're pretty much screw--d. Better have a few things to do while you try to connect. Like mow the lawn!
If someone in your party crashes ... well I guess that's why Bilzzard gave us crafting!
I think it's time that the BadBoys@Blizz got their heads out of their butts and realized that this isn't D1 or D2. We are PAYING for this every single month.

I much agree with this. The first month of Beta, er... i mean retail, queues, lag and overall lousy gaming was the norm, but i accepted that as par for the course for a brand new MMO. It seems the last few weeks we have returned to the exact same conditions as the beginning. This is after the President of Blizzard, Mike Morhaime pretty well guaranteed there would be changes and they would not do "emergency" maintenance during prime time hours. But on most weekends, especially Sunday, Stormrage has crashed on a pretty regular basis. I don't mind queues if i don't get lag, but that is not the case. I would not mind queues if i did not crash to my desktop because of WoW error which causes me to go back into the queues. This past week i was doing the Marshall Windsor escort with my regular Lurker group and i crashed and it took me at least 15 minutes to get back in the game. If i had crashed out during the actual escort that would have ruined the playing experience for 4 others because i would be unable to get back in time. Paying for and expecting a stable server is not much to ask for. I have played other MMO's and i have never experienced these problems. Blizzard will have to fix this as no fixing will equal a mass exodus from this game. I really feel for the people who play during Primetime and can't because of lag and queues.

Interestingly enough, you're all talking about issues that I'm not seeing at all. I'm on Uldum and Dalaran, and 30 seconds is a long wait to log in. It seems to be only a few servers that are having big problems. Time will tell, I guess.

I have characters on 5 different servers including high pop servers like Azgalor. I have never seen a wait queue. I don't even know what they look like. Not to flog the issue, but there is a very simple solution out there.

I just sent this off in response to them vetoing my sons character name, RaneOTerror.
Quote:Rane is my son's name and he chose the character name. You have made him very unhappy in taking this away from him. In viewing many of the other names on this server I think your actions are arbitrary and unfair, considering a scan of high level characters including "Twit", and "TheElder". I understand why it violates your RP naming standard, but only slightly. If RaneTheTerrible would have fit in your limited character name space it would have been more appropriate. Many medival names were literally "Gunter of York", or "Eric the Red". Consider also that many of the "Blizzard" NPC character names violate your own naming rules, e.g. Captain Placeholder, Hank The Hammer. Or, Blizzard assigned names which I find marginally inappropriate, such as a Void Walker we have named "Kraktaz" which I feel borders on the profane.
Here are my alternative names for his Tauren character which seem in character.
RaneSeeker
RaneGiver
RaneCaller
RaneDancer
RaneStalker
Thank you for your consideration. I am hoping we can come to an amiable resolution as my children enjoy your game very much, but these kinds of misunderstandings do little to build good customer relationships, earn my loyalty, or induce me to continue to financially support your endeavor.

What are the odds they will care or respond?
I bet one in four.
Let's see. Their game Diablo is about a "Lord of Terror." They don't like "RaneOTerror?" Bad enough you can't put a space in your name, Guild Wars allows that. PeterOTool might be blocked due to "Oh, that can only be a dirty reference to a male organ." Right, tell the actor Peter O'Toole that one. I must soon make a gnome with that name. I feel the need to start a bunfight with idiocy.
This name limitation crap screams out: "Will someone please pull a nickel out of their pockets and rent Blizzard a clue?"
Unless I start playing more soon, and actually enjoying WoW, I will probably cancel the sub as of March. Tough on my son and his 20th level Druid, a relief for my wife, who takes a dim view of WoW.
Get this. She thinks it is too violent.

Much higher than what you're saying because that's what you are supposed to do when you are told about your name being changed - send back an email with a list of 5 other names for Blizzard to consider.

Wait, that doesn't affect the chance to get a reply. Most likely they'll pick a name at random, change it, and you'll never ever hear from them. Unless these 5 names are also inadequate.

I was referring more to Occhi's "care" rather than the "respond" part.
Edit: And if I recall correctly, they look at the first name given on the list. If that's not appropriate, then they look at the next name on the list. It's not just random - they give preference to the names in the order they are listed. Well, initially, they'll throw a random name on there, but that's just until they hear back from you about what other names you want.

After D2 and its splashes of blood, she thinks WoW is too violent. An interesting response. Is it really that, or does she not care for the immersion level of the game? It does draw you in fairly deep while you're in it. Well, at least it does me. Oh, well, that's another thing that has to be weighed in the play/not play choice. And, if you're not enjoying it, then it's not for you. WoW is not for all. I'm sure for some, it's incredibly boring.
YMMV.

*Sigh*
Stormrage has just been awful since their weekly maintainance. Yeah, we had queues during the weekend, but at least the server was working. It's been flat out awful since they tweaked their realms.
Has anyone noticed the two most common times for problems on Stormrage? Saturday Night (obvious) and Tuesday Night (after maintainance). They really need to work on their maintainance techniques.

Treesh, will they care that a perfectly good name has been rejected, and consider that perhaps they are wrong? One if four chance.
"Please name your avatar something we like better." Crap. It aint like the lad named his char "ThrobbingWoody" or "GayHomo."
The naming convention is lousy to start with. The intent to avoid "HanzOnnerTitz" sorts of names has spilled over into arbitrary and inconsistent application of a guiding principle.
I seek reason, logic, and don't see it. I see BS. Oh, waitaminute, it is Buzzard we are dealing with. WTF was I thinking?
I logged onto Stormrage last week, and I got the kind of lag, yet again, I used to get on Diablo II at release with a low spec machine. I can't stand a two to four second time delay between action and move. Not in this format.
Did not see any of that crap in the first month, it all ran pretty smoothely. The desynch is completely UNSAT for a monthly fee set up. I could put up with BNET's issues, sometimes. The alleged improvement is a farce.
I am happy that my son plays on Alleria, he seems to have fewer desynch issues.

The Missus forbade D II for my son. The first time she saw me to a CE with a Necro, her comments were "I can't believe this crap. Why do You play this?"
Warcraft II and III, with lower ketchup counts, are barely palatable to her. Yes, the immersion level is a concern, but he gets a finite weekly budget of PC game time anyway.
We will see how things shape up this weekend.
