Huh? Reread my post, big guy.

The Admiral always was a funny fellow.

Died easily enough, though.

This evening Tribade had the pleasure of helping defeat Lady Prestor and her friends on Stormrage. We were in Stormwind when Marcus announced that Reginald was entering the city. We came with haste and joined the small procession to the keep.

For an army it was a very tiny group indeed. I don't fault Reginald for being worried. It appeared that the questers may have been just one party. Besides Tribade I saw one other low level character, a fellow paladin, helping out. Plus at least one loyal guard stood at our side to help.

I didn't see much point to running up and bashing Lady Prestor with my hammer, so I blessed and healed the questers while saving screen shots of the event. Sadly the level 30 paladin died. As far as I know the rest of us survived. The only lament was from someone whose skinning wasn't high enough for dragons.

There was a mystery: the king, at some point, disappeared. I have not yet tried to analyze the screen shots. But he was gone for a very long time. Which was remiss of him. Gone long after Lady Prestor respawned. I hope I can be more quantitative from the time stamps on the files. Where could he have been? I searched the keep for any sign of him. Could he have teleported away with Onyxia? And indeed what does Onyxia do after she has left the citadel?

It would be interesting to find out. In the beta, Reginald says at the beginning that the child king should be escorted away before he states his accusations against Lady Prestor. But in the beta, this didn't actually happen. The king just stood there the whole time. Maybe this part got fixed up in the final release?

Watched this take place today. The king is directed to exit to "the Safe Room" by Bolvar, at which point he runs off into the room occupied by the bishop. I'm not sure if he vanishes or not.

Lord Bolvar, assisted by guard spawns, is pretty much capable of taking out the entire set of Onyxian elites by himself, which sits poorly with me. A priest, paladin, or druid could solo this event, in all likelihood. I watched a party of 60s sit on their rears today as Bolvar and his friends reduced the elites to a pair, then finally started helping, as Bolvar was down to 1/8th HP or so. Kind of disappointing that such a strategy is effective, honestly.

I am guessing the NPC that is hinted at here.

"Where to find other flights willing to help? Sadly, I do not know... They are said to exist. Some may even work and live among us, disguised as one of the humanoid races. I wish you luck."

LavCat and I both have some suspicions on where to find this one(or more than one?). But currently I am not up to the point of even trying to start looking in ernest yet.

I already said in this thread:

Quote:If you meant the blues in Winterspring, you are correct. They also come in to play with a little crying whelp in Blackrock Spire.

There's a large cave complex in Winterspring where the blue dragonflight hangs out. You step onto a portal and you get teleported to the top of a mountain where an elf-looking woman (not quite elf, though, I can't describe it) waits for you. She's the matron of the blue dragonflight and is the next part of this quest. As I said, she also comes into play with a quest in Blackrock Spire and gives some followup quests.

Here's a screenshot taken of one of the blue drakes within the blue dragonflight cavern in Winterspring. There are lots of whelps and those medium sized dragonkin earlier in the cave. To get to this point, Neriad removed all her clothing and used a combination of Mind Soothe and suiciding. (Removing her clothing meant that the clothing wouldn't lose durability when she died). She's properly dressed now, however, because she doesn't have to suicide anymore, because the portals are nearby.

When you step onto the portal, you get sent up to the top of a tall mountain in Winterspring and meet Haleh, the matron of the blue dragonflight. You can see the blue return portal there on the ground.

Mongo, I've wanted to thank you for some time for this wonderful topic, which I first read as if it were a wonderful, illustrated children's book.

Tonight I ventured to Lightbringer to chat with my friend Thenryb. We've been playing some low levels together over there. When I arrived he was busy with another character, we chatted a bit and then I ran the "Delivery to Stormwind" quest.

As I was exiting the city over the bridge, there at the far end I saw Reginald Windsor surrounded by maybe 16 players. Well, it was as if someone had nailed my character's feet to the ground! I wasn't going to miss a moment of this.

I read the dialogue, gasped as Marcus came forward. Watched the guard drop a knee and walked behind the players during the escort. Most of the players were level 60s, and I was amused that most of them seemed unaware that you use the "/" key with NumLock in order to walk. :)

But that's about the only thing I can flaw them for. Read on.

When we arrived at the boy king's hall, I stood in the hallway and used my camera zoom for a good view of the ensuing battle. Of the 16 or so players, about 12 went into the throne room proper, mostly meleers and dps characters. 4 or 5 healers stayed in the hallway and did their work from there. (Of course, they'd probably had the benefit of this thread to plan.) They were highly organized and took up their posts as if everything had been carefully arranged.

What came next was the most thrilling battle I've ever seen in gaming. Just as you described it, but with live action. Even having watched it go down, I can't imagine what it must have been like to have been in a fight like that. The longest fight I've ever seen, and it was managed by the players with what appeared to be military precision. The players triumphed. So much for ignorance of the walk function!

It was a joy and a thrill to watch, and I'm thankful to you, Mongo, and to this thread for making me aware of the fact that this quest existed.

I am close to triggering this quest on Stormrage. I can't decide whether we'll just sit there and /beer bolvar (it worked for a group I saw earlier) or try and take on 8+ elite dragonkin.

It's far more fun to take them on. As I described above, you can chain fear them, which often makes them run to a spot where they aggro Stormwind guards to help out.

I don't think it's a matter of not knowing, but rather not caring. Is there really any reason to be using it? I for one enjoy roleplaying, but feel that as long as someone has a decent name and makes an effort to look at things from their character's perspective, it's good enough (and a huge improvement over the average player). Quibbling over the usage of run/walk sounds like the sort of elitism that turns people away from roleplayers.

In escort quests I switch between jogging out in front of the escortee to following behind, depending on what suits the area or helps me watch over them better. If I were walking, I might not be quick enough to either duck unwanted aggro or purposely get aggro from something that the NPC is obviously going to blunder into.
