Looking for: Bostic
#1
Title says it all.

I know there are people here who remember this person and know who I'm referring to, and I'd like to use the combined power of the old-time old-school Lurkers to find him. (Old-school meaning, hello 1996-1998.)

Is he still around and where/how can I contact him?

Thanks,

-Bolty

Caustic Bostic? Wow, talk about your nostalgia.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how you'd get in contact with him, B. He's not active on any of the other forums I frequent, and I don't have an email address for him, so unless you get lucky and he sees this, I don't know how you'll get in touch with him.:(

I have no clue how to contact Bostic these days. Haven't seen or heard anything from him in years. The best I can come up with is this plan:

1) Get some newbie to post asking for rogue advice.
2) Thecla should respond with some witty comments and mention that rogues should always use a bow.
3) With any luck, this will summon Claudio, who can then be goaded into saying that a CAT-rogue is the most powerful entity in the known universe, capable of surviving being surrounded even by 10 blood knights at once.
4) Hopefully, googling "Claudio" "rogues" "powerful" will lead Bostic back to the Lounge to post timings of hell/hell runs for warrior vs. rogue... although we would probably get Finnan Haddie back instead.

On an almost related note, has Claudio's Page gone to the great bitbucket in the sky?

Rogues are the best class for hell/hell

...............

If that doesn't bring the wrath of Bostic down from on high, I'm not sure anything will.

p.s. Yes, unfortunately, it does seem that Claudio's page has vanished into the aether.

Perhaps installing a version of Landru on the LL forums and letting it run amok for a while will summon it's old creator? :P

I recently found a dusty old 3,5'' Disk lying under a stack of vintage game boxes and gaming magazines that was labelled "DSF files". I know the good old bot is there...

Anyone knows a trick how to transfer files from a floppy disk to USB Stick or DVD without owning an actual disk drive anymore?

and still keep the frog you started with.

Buy a USB floppy drive for $10? Idunno.

Although having Landru running again would be awesome. He was pretty specialized for the DSF if I remember correctly, but still, it's Landru we're talking about here. :shuriken:

Tweezers, magnifying glass, pencil and notepad?

Well, it may not have worked to summon Bostic but it certainly worked to bring in another old timer.

Howdy folks... long time no see.

This makes me laugh. I kept all of my stuff for years on a hard drive and never bothered to back anything up to floppy. Every time I have gotten a new hard drive since the ol' 6GB that I multi-partitioned way back when I have transferred this group of files (DSF posts, source codes, PAGES of assembler, mod data, etc) and never lost it. I got nostalgic a few months back and checked it out. Almost 100MB worth of stuff and some of the file dates were from late 1997. Made me realize how old I truly am getting these days...

This post is almost enough to make me break out my Diablo disc from storage and give it another romp through Hell\Hell with my CAT-Rogue (which was THE most powerful class in the game ;-) ).

Where've you been? Defending a bridge with your brothers against Sir Lancelot and Sir Kay?

Bows in situations are fine, but the class was truly versatile. Try playing against type in most games these days!

And technically we all lost to the Mage and his mighty fireball slinging ways.

Nothing technical about it really. Y'all are just too slow.

Well, Rogues get their bugged fireghtning arrows, Sorcerers get their bugged/badly designed fireballs, but what do we warrior get? Nothing, that is why we rely on skill to outclass everyone else!!!

There is a Diablo I revival underway, somewhat, at RBD.
