It's just random. I never got WoW, BC, Wrath, Cata, or SC2. Now I get MoP and D3 both. Also got PoE.

I still can't figure out how to download the program they want you to run before you can sign up for beta.

It should not be. The battletag part is only required before you can start the game the first time, not for getting accepted into the beta. That was when I need to make one.

First head over to bnet http://us.battle.net/en/ and log in at the top.
When you're logged in there are a set of options on the right hand side:
Buy Digital Games
Merge a World of Warcraft® Account
Download Game Clients
Beta Profile Settings
Item Code Redemption
Click beta profile settings.
At the bottom of the page you can download the program for mac and pc.
Download it, run it, and click "send" after it runs.
Don't forget to click the check boxes on the right hand side of the same page for starcraft diablo and warcraft!

Thanks, but unfortunately I have been around this circle many times before. Most recently just now. The download of the system check never does anything at all.
On the more positive side, I see I am at least in MoP.

BTW, for those who were lucky enough to get a closed beta invite (even if you didn't actually download or play it), there's a Feat of Strength for it, with a sigil for your banner too. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4888689240#1
You just had to have the invite attached to your account to receive this.
