Hail LordJaeden,

Finally something constructive ;) .
Seriously, I'm gonna try Daemon Tools out.
Thanks for the links LordJaeden, and thank you all for your input.
Lurkerlounge is irreplaceable, as simple as that.

Quote:A pity that so much software piracy (and the over-priced retail system) indirectly results in enough co. paranoia to seriously risk damage to consumer hardware (and, indeed, the consumers themselves). Blizzard is, of course, not the only co. with this problem.

You'd think (two!) cd-keys would be enough, but they also want you to have the cd in every time, which can easily be circumvented with a cd-emulator (of which I haven't heard are "illegal" on any DII forum).

Oooh...

I wish b.net just changed to pay service (and you could buy DII online), so you wouldn't need the cd in (because warezing online accounts I haven't heard of?).

Actually, for my home LAN I run LOD installed on my server with Daemon-tools from any of 4 client machines. I had to add a logical drive on the client to point to the server shared version, and then hack the registry to point DII's reference to the CDROM drive to the logical drive. There can be some contention on a shared physical CDROM if you are running the game from more than one client, but Daemon-tools has no troubles. I usually only use one machine at a time, but it is handy at times for muling gear. BTW, since a friend was tired of LOD, I bought his two copies so I now own 4 copies of DII and LOD.

Merry Christmas everybody,

Just wanted to let you know that LoD 1.10 is working properly at my notebook now!
I know that this might be considered spamming, but I'm just sooo glad it finally works and I can dig into 1.10 for the very first time!
Since Clone CD wasn't available at Elaborate Bytes anymore, I had to pull out all the stops, and get it from a pal at university.
Now it works (with the image of the cd on the hard drive), although the WinXP Cursor for 'Searching For CD' is still diplayed for a short period until the program runs. Kind of eerie, but - oh well.
This is such a nice christmas present that you gave me (well, at least the knowledge of it), so thanks a lot!
Now let's get to play :D :D :D

Greetings, Fragbait

PS: Merry Christmas fellow lurkers!
