Defense vs Missile

Does defense vs missiles work against those annoying black souls in ws keep or is it only lightning resist that will work?
My Hc necro almost died against them in hell. I had 36 Hp left after a fight against a bosspack of black souls.

No, defense doesn't help at all against pure elemental attacks like that.

Didn't i read they were bugged and essentially delivering both their physical melee (second attack) along with their elemental attack and thats why they are so damaging. If so I would think that defense or blocking *might* have an impact. From practical experience, my answer would be no. Damage doesnt appear to be defendable by physical defense (ie. shield or dr).

a friend got 95% lightning resist and 40 absorb, and black souls heal him, what would not be possible if they also did their ~100 physical damage. Wonders will never cease
