Hello, all,
It's been a long time since Elric of Grans and I decided to tear into the D2 vibrator bug, and I really don't a have a lot under my belt since then, other than all the usual stuff that happens in life.
I caught the Blizzard announcement of the Diablo 3 beta coming, and finally decided to buy a serious upgrade from my current Toshiba lappy, which is running a puny Radeon 4200 onboard chipset for graphics. If you don't know what it is, it lets me run Oblivion with everything turned on (except the stupid grass), though my keyboard gets really, really hot.
My new rig is, by my standards, an obscene expenditure of money, but I got it to play Starcraft 2 (which I'm going to try my hand at competitively), and Diablo 3. For those interested, here's a list of specs:
Core i5 2500k (will be overclocked)
EVGA Superclock CPU cooler (for overclocking, Hardware Secrets Gold award)
Corsair XMS3 DDR3-1333 (8GB)
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4 motherboard
EVGA Superclock GTX 570 (can't afford a second one, maybe a Christmas present?)
Corsair AX850 Gold 850 watt PSU, Gold Plus certified, SLI certified
Cooler Master HAF X 942 Nvidia edition (I'm not an Nvidia fanboy, I just like the green)
Seagate Barracuda 500GB hard drive (leftover from my other desktop...hey, I ran out of money).
Hitachi optical drive (another cannibalization from my last PC).
Of course, as soon as it's up and running, I'm bopping on over to the Blizzard website to register it for the beta. Nom nom nom. Please, Blizzard!
Like that's going to do any good. Well, I can wish. And if I get in, I'll be streaming on ustream and uploading to youtube. I haven't built my channel on there, but my handle on youtube in Lokishadow as well.
Just be warned: I am an ugly sonofa...you get the idea. But you'll have the dubious pleasure of seeing my ugly mug and live (or recorded) Diablo 3 footage. Nom nom nom. I can't wait.
As if 11.11.11 weren't enough of a reason to buy the new pc. Yes, I'm a huge Bethesda fan as well. Blizzard and Bethesda are pretty much my favorite game companies.
I'm going to come back here a bit more often now. Since I'm not spending all my time studying pc part compatibility, and I finally finished college.
Special thanks:
Bolty!!!! You da man!! - for making the LL
Sirian (if you're even reading this) - for opening my eyes to game analysis
Pete - for being so awesome
Occhidiangela - for the great feedback you gave during the vibrator bug analysis
Elric of Grans - for helping me with the vibrator bug, staying up to talk with me at all hours, and putting pictures into the post (which is something I still don't know how to do)
And everyone else on the LL!!!
Okay, end of random gibberish.
