Not just the color of the item changes. I have a little snapshot of my paladin with a Blue glovehand. I think he was equipped with a magic scimitar and had no armor on (corpse retrieval). I think he was also in possesion of The Hand Of Broc, but that didn't matter, it was just neat seeing a scimitar weilded by a blue hand/glove.
