To save a *.swf to your hard drive, just browse your temporary internet folders and copy the file. Alternatively, you can view the source HTML of the website offerring the the file and download it directly.

There is an easier way. This is how I just did it in Firefox but I'm fairly sure that each of the major browsers has a similar facility for doing it.

Under the Tools menu, pick Page Info. This gives you another box with several tabs. Choose Media. This will give you a list of the elements that make up the page. Scroll down to the one you want. Click on it to select it and then click on Save As and you will be prompted for the save info. Voila!
