No matter what, you ALWAYS have to do research, regardless of what the naming schema is. It's just a fact of retail and computers: technology changes, so you need to research it; and product makers want to sell, nothing less, nothing more, so they'll use any strategy they can - even making things appear better than they are (AMD, for example? :P).
