I got it fixed, thanks to NiteFox's good memory. There is a section on the BioWare support area for BG2/ToB that details how to fix said installation problems; basically, you have to hunt through the Windows registry and delete the key(s) related to InstallShield's recorded information. After doing that, you must dig through the hidden InstallShield Installation Information folder located in the Program Files folder and delete THAT information. After that, everything should be hunky-dory. Or that's what BioWare says. The exact instructions can be located here.
Skip steps one through three and head straight for four and beyond if you have similar symptoms to mine. In other words, if you were an idiot like me and DIDN'T use the Uninstall utility or Add/Remove Programs (and so deleted the BG2 directory via Windows Explorer), use the information located on BioWare's site.
Now that BG2+ToB is all installed and set up, I am having problems deciding what to do. I am trying to decide between a Monk, an Elf Archer, or a Half-Orc Barbarian. I've heard that Monks are unstoppable in the latter stages of the game, but fighting bare-handed just seems so... boring. Archers, meanwhile, rely on magical arrows to hit creatures with protection, and magical arrows/bolts only go up to a +3 enchantment, AND ammo isn't unlimited (at least, until I get the Quiver/Case of Plenty +1/+2.) Also, I'm wondering if Elven Chain is considered a "metal armor"; if so, my Archer won't be able to use the incredible +5 Elven Chain you can acquire in ToB, though Aeger's Hide +3 certainly isn't too bad.

ArrayPaladins were not meant to sit in the back of the raid staring at health bars all day, spamming heals and listening to eight different classes whine about buffs.[/quote]
